Growing up with a wide-eyed fascination of the anime she watched tirelessly as a child, Ayu found cosplaying to be the next natural thing for her to do. She admits she had always dreamt of being the anime characters she had admired, even if she was very well aware that cosplaying can be as challenging as any other passion out there, that bringing fantasy to life is a feat matched only by the effort she puts into it.
Ayu started cosplaying back in 2011, choosing Matsuri Shihou of Sola as her first character. She has become many other characters since then, preferring loli and tsundere characters as she says those fit her personality best. She tells us she has fun portraying them: lively, amazing, colorful characters she has admired from the shows she had watched. She had always thought that it was a great feeling to be those characters if only for the brief moment she cosplays them and be appreciated for her efforts.
Despite the striking demeanor most of her characters have, Ayu says she’s just a simple person who is easy to talk to. She shares with us that cosplaying has allowed her to meet many new friends, folks who share the same passion she does. She says she has always enjoyed seeing the happy faces of people who appreciate her cosplays.
Besides cosplay, Ayu tells us she is into other pursuits like fashion modeling. She says she has tried her hand at baking and cooking and found those quite enjoyable as well. Of course she still watches anime every now and then and enjoys playing a game or two. She says that she looks forward to cosplaying characters from her favorite online games sometime in the near future.
Despite cosplaying for quite some time already, Ayu admits that cosplay continues to be challenging because she still puts a lot of effort into creating costumes, making them as accurate and as polished as she possibly can. She says she always wants to improve and be better at her chosen passion. As to how long she will want to cosplay, she says she’d like to hold on to it for as long as she can, even wanting to share and pass on the same passion to her future children.
For the people who have supported her, Ayu has this to say: “I would like to thank all the people I have met through cosplay. I’m so happy I got to meet and be friends with you, and thank you to all the people who keep on cheering me up when I have problems. Thank you guys!”
For Ayu, cosplaying is bringing her dreams to life, and it is her ardent wish that somehow, she can serve as an inspiration to children to not only take up cosplaying, but also be an inspiration for them to lead fulfilling and enjoyable lives.
