There’s always something exciting and new every month as Talking Apples Maid & Butler Cafe comes up with fresh new themes each and every time. Held at 121 Restaurant at the 2nd floor of 2284 Allegro Center, Pasong Tamo Extension in Makati, this month’s edition was Talking Apples Cafe Neko: A Cafe for our Kitty Friends. The staff and management wanted to set aside a special day for our furry feline friends and their doting humans and all were welcome to drop by and join in the fun.
Starting off a little earlier than usual, the cafe had its share of furry guests coming in for this particular pop-up. Proud owners got to bring along and introduce themselves who love felines as much as they did in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Kids were there too to join in the fun as well.
And as being feline was the theme, the splendid Talking Apples team of maids and butlers were in costume with some little modifications like having cat ears or whiskers to set the mood fun and furry for this event. They were in character, serving delightfully tasty and unique food and drinks at an atmosphere that was as accommodating as it was fun.
The staff also had a small exhibit for their own work, still with cats at their theme. They got to display their art and were sold to guests. We loved them all, and we got to buy one drawn by Juzo/Mel which really got our attention.
There were also some guest booths outside the restaurant which offered lots of unique items and services, like our friends YU-EN cosplay who featured the Cosplay Anthology hotobook as well as their rinting services.
Talking Apples welcomes guests seeking the experience of being served by eager and attentive maids and butlers in amazing costumes, just like what they had seen over and over in their favorite anime and manga. Talking Apples Maid & Butler Cafe has been quite a hit in the cosplay and otaku community, with more and more people coming in to partake in their monthly pop-ups.
Good food plays a big role in the success of Talking Apples, with an ever-expanding menu of unique items straight out of an anime, like the instant-classic omerice. Once ordered you can have your meido or butler write or draw whatever you wished. This was ours:
Guests are very much welcome and are encouraged to come in cosplay or Japanese fashion for an even more immersive and engaging experience. And most of them really do. They have the most fun of course interacting with the maids and butlers, who also also enjoy the time they serve by being in character.
We had our good friend Carmae tag along as she had really wanted to see for herself what Talking Apples was like. She got to order the sumptuous curry for lunch and their bestseller chewy chocolate chip cookie for dessert over tea. This was what she had to say of her experience: “Talking Apples Cafe was my first experience with maid/butler cafes, and it was really good. It had the the ambiance of you having some private space. I would recommend a little addition to the cafe vibe: adding anime-themed music or shows to be played. I also hope they’ll offer a few mini-game for the guests to interact with their meido/butlers or other guests. Overall, my first experience at Talking Apples was really nice and I would love to go back.”
Far from being your normal maid cafe, Talking Apples Maid & Butler Cafe continues to innovate. With different exciting themes each month, guests get to live out that fantasy here as maids and butlers tend to their needs, promising the most unique service. It would seem that this month’s neko theme was quite a hit with the patrons.
