Asia’s biggest and longest running convention and event for wonderful things called toys, games, collectibles, cosplay, anime, comics, and whatever may find itself in between took place this weekend at ToyCon 2015 held at the Megatrade Halls 1-3 of SM Megamall. Gracing the festivities was the world’s most prominent cosplayer, Ms. Alodia Gosiengfiao, and attendees just couldn’t get enough of her. As part of the Cosplay Circle Team for ToyCon 2015, our coverage was mostly on her and the first-ever Grand Gathering of international cosplay group, Cosplay Circle.
We were of course overwhelmed with the amazing number of exhibitors and retailers who had their merchandise already on display. Collectors and enthusiasts will surely be pleased with the bewildering number of toys and other collectibles on display and for sale. The organizers weren’t kidding when they said that TOYCON would have the biggest exhibitor floor of all pop culture merchandise in terms of apparel, collectibles and memorabilia, graphic novels and comics, cosplay paraphernalia, and toys. One could literally spend most of the day just browsing through the many rare, unique and amazing merchandise on display or for sale at the best prices around. Also to rave about are the great gaming companies featuring their hit and up-and-coming games. Be sure to visit them for free trials and lots of freebies. Throughout the day, exhibits and features by chosen exhibitors were showcased at the event as people kept pouring in to partake in the many sights TOYCON had to offer.
Ashley Gosiengfiao and her band Midnight Meetings gave a resounding performance on stage, delighting the crowd with their particular brand of music.
They were then followed by the special appearance of the world’s most prominent cosplayer, Ms. Alodia Gosiengfiao, as GoGo Tomago of Big Hero 6, along with Liui Aquino as Hiro Hamada, delighting the hundreds of ToyCon attendees who have gathered around the stage.
They were also judges for the cosplay competition, and they and the audience were awed by the amazing display of craftsmanship and skill with the performances put on by the contestants, one of them our PRO Karlo as Scorpion of Mortal Kombat
After being on stage, Alodia proceeded to her booth where she and sister Ashley had a meet-and-greet session with their adoring fans. They took photos with them, had their autographs, had selfies, shook hands and had short chats. It was an experience like no other as Alodia and Ashley brought excitement and electricity to ToyCon 2015.
Alodia then joined the other admins at the Cosplay Circle booth for a short photo op. Cosplay Circle is a group she founded that brought together cosplayers from all over the world. With close to 25,000 members joining in only a few months since it started, Cosplay Circle has become one of the largest and most active cosplay groups in the world, and it had its first-ever Grand Gathering at ToyCon 2015.
After the meet-and-greet, our team had some time to go around ToyCon with our Cosplay Model and Correspondent Irene cosplaying Catwoman and just enjoyed some of the sights at the venue.
We got to spend some time at the Iflix booth where we got some fun freebies.
We also got to catch some of our cosplayer friends with Miss Alodia afterwards.
