Cosplay action invades southern Manila as Cosplay Mania Roadshow 2015 makes a stop at SM Southmall in Las Pinas. Organized by cosplay.ph, Cosplay Mania Roadshow along with TORCH Cosplay Tournament of Champions constitute a series of events that build up the excitement for Cosplay Mania ’15 on October 3-4 at the SMX Convention Center. SM Mall of Asia.
Helping us cover the event is our Cosplay Model Nicolette as Junko Enoshima, who herself was enjoying the festivities.
The event started out early in the afternoon with the Cosplay parade, with mall patrons getting to see the cosplayers in their colorful and unique costumes, then followed by group photos by the end of the parade.
Warming up the crowd was an exciting performance from amazing dance group Borealis.
cosplay.ph president Pablo Bairan personally got to welcome everyone to Cosplay Mania Roadshow and shared the many interesting activities and information about the event as well as the many other exciting events that lead up to Cosplay Mania ’15
The hosts then proceeded to present their trademark game Facepalm the Music, where contestants had to guess the title or the series of the song being being played. They express their intention to answer by placing their palm on the volunteer’s face, hence the name. It was fun guessing the songs and some in the audience were eager to answer those themselves. Our Cosplay Model Nicolette just had to try it out and got to take home a nice prize for winning.
After some more games, the Cyberzone Cosplay Grand Prix Southmall Leg began. Under the scrutiny of three very skilled and knowledgeable judges headed by seasoned cosplayer and crafter Guy Singzon, the competition was a catwalk face-off where cosplayers were given the opportunity to show off their cosplays to everyone, showcasing their creativity and characterization.
As the scores were tabulated, more games were held on stage. We took the opportunity to do our rounds and do shoots of the cosplayers who were enjoying themselves at the event, all busy having their photos taken by a curious and appreciative crowd.
Then it came time to announce the winners for the competition. Each participant did their best, but it was the time to acknowledge those who really stood out. Announced as champion for the Southmall leg of Cyberzone Cosplay Grand Prix was Carmae Fonte, who impressed everyone with her own elaborate and stunning creation, Jinoong God Level from Twelve Sky 2 Online. She got to take home some really great prizes, but more importantly, she earned the right to compete for the finals against other leg winners at Cosplay Mania itself.
The event ended with words of gratitude to everyone and a final photo of all the cosplayers who attended the event.
Many thanks to cosplay.ph for organizing these exciting but free events that allow more people to experience and enjoy cosplay. Watch out for their other events all over the country:
