Upcoming Event: The Best of Anime / BoA 2016



The biggest anime-themed event in the Philippines is coming back strong for its 7th straight year as The Best of Anime 2016 will be held on Sept 17-18 at Function Rooms 2-4 of the SMX Convention Center at tthe Mall of Asia in Pasay City.  With a solid and spectacular lineup of guests performers, artists and cosplayers, coupled with amazing attractions and activities for attendees, this year’s BoA promises to be the biggest one to date.  arkadymac.com is an official media partner for BoA 2016, and we hope to see you there as we have our special two-day coverage of the event.



For the past six exciting and fun-filled years, The Best of Anime has undoubtedly become an annual haven of fans and enthusiasts. Last year, the two-day event had approximately 30,000 visitors who trooped to the venue to experience and witness once more what “The Best of Anime” showcases and offers – an impressive roster of talents, cosplayers, activities, and much more.




Highly-anticipated activities during the Event include the different competitions held namely the All-Star Cosplay Competition, Inter-School Cosplay Competition Championship, the Best of Anime Superstar Karaoke Competition, and the Battle of the Bands. The Convention also holds various demos and workshops like Voice-Dubbing Workshop, Cosplay Makeup Workshop, and Kendo Demo, among others.




Moreover, the Convention extended its horizons by bringing Japanese artists in the country for the past four years, thus setting the bar higher for the local Anime Convention scene.  This year, “The Best of Anime 2016” promises to be another exciting Event as some of the big names in the world of cosplay will be gracing the event, notably, Misa (Taiwan), Liui (Philippines), Sara Tousa-Bao (Singapore), Jun Kaise (Japan), Yau (Hong Kong), Suzume (Philippines) and Chun WX (Philippines).






Popular Japanese artists namely INKT with Koki Tanaka, former member of the idol group KAT-TUN managed by Johnny’s Entertainment and, of course, up-and-coming AniSong singer Haruna Luna will be performing for the very first time in the Philippines duing the Convention! Perennial crowd favorite Uchusentai: Noiz will also be returning to BoA for a special performance.  Whether onstage or on TV, Uchusentai:NOIZ never fails to amaze and energize the crowd with their jaw-dropping performances. They hold a great place in their Pinoy fans’ hearts not only because of their great talent but also for their love of the Philippines and its people. Renditions of popular Filipino songs “Narda”, “Pinoy Ako”, and others await as Angel Taka, Masato, Kotaro, Yamato and Kyo take the stage.






Great local bands will also be gracing the stage for live performances in front of the BoA crowd.  Callalily is composed of Kean Cipriano, Tatsi Jamnague, Aaron Ricafrente, and Lemuel Belaro. The band celebrated their 10th anniversary last year and continues to wow music lovers with their music.  Gracenote, aka Philippines’ Paramore, has evolved with their music as evident in their latest album, “Transparent”. The band is composed of Eunice Jorge on vocals, keyboard, violin and guitar; Jazz Jorge on bass and EJ Pichay on drums and captivate their audience each and every time they perform. They have served as opening acts for many concerts of international artists including Nelly Furtado and Second Hand Serenade, here in the Philippines.  Formed in 2006, Tanya Markova stands out for its unique style and happy get up. The band is composed of Norma Love, Iwa Motors, Mowmow, Skrovak Iskopanjo, Rez Curtis, Levy Poe, Robot Jaworski (AKA: Android E.) and Isabel Ole. Their music genre is described as happy goth, shock pop, and birth metal. Their first single “Picture Picture” caught the attention of the public with its Taglish lyrics.






This year’s biggest fan gathering will have the fan clubs of INKT, Jin Akanishi, Yamapi, Baby Metal, the Gazette and One OK Rock gearing up to showcase their own respective activities for Nihongaku Fan Fest 2016.
