Voltes V Run Manila 2018

 

On the occasion of its 40th anniversary, Voltes V Run Manila 2018 commemorated the beloved anime that spanned many decades of devoted viewership in the country.  Voltes V has become of the lives of several generations of Filipinos, becoming even more popular here than it was in Japan, and it brought together fans in a healthy and lively event at McKinley West, Bonifacio Global City on February 10, 2018.

RETIRE-MEN, a Collaborative Theater Play by Japan, Philippines and Thailand at the CCP

 

The Japan Foundation Manila invites everyone to watch RETIRE-MEN, a collaborative theater play by Japan, Philippines and Thailand on January 27 and 28, 2018 at the Tanghalang Jose Batute (Studio Theater) of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.  RETIRE-MEN is a humorous play about the trial and errors of Thai, Filipino and Japanese people who share their countries with one another.

Ready for 2018?  This year’s first Japanese pop culture event was TsuNAMIcon last January 6.   It was organized by PNU NAMI with the theme “Bijutsu at Sining: Expanding the Horizon of JaPinoy Arts,” held at the  Philippine Normal University Quadrangle.

Music and art lovers are in for a rare treat this November as The Japan Foundation, Manila presents the Tokyo-Manila Jazz & Arts Festival Workshops and Concert at UP-Diliman and UST.

Multi-awarded Filipino and Japan-based jazz singer Charito together with renowned Japanese jazz musicians are coming to Manila to conduct workshops and perform with workshop participants!

AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2017 Press Conference

 

Giving everyone a glimpse of the many exciting things in store for fans of pop culture this weekend, AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2017 held its press conference at the C Lounge of Conrad Hotel at the Mall of Asia Complex.  Presented to the media were stunning American cosplayer Haiden Hazard, our very own outstanding cosplayer Jin Joson, exceptional visual artist Quiccs, American comic book writer, artist and teacher Carl Potts, revered Filipino comic book artist Whilce Portacio, and creative director and co-founder of tokidoki, Simone Legno.  All of them were thrilled to meet fans and enthusiasts from all over this weekend.

Cosplay at History Con 2017

 

We at arkadymac.com are grateful that History Con gave cosplay a bigger role this year as they have vowed to be bigger, better and bolder than ever.  In just two years, History Con has established itself as Manila’s biggest entertainment convention ever, and as conventions go, cosplay has become a colorful and fascinating part of the festivities.  History Con 217 has been very receptive and appreciative of cosplay, being very generous with prizes, privileges and benefits to attending cosplayers through all four days of the event.

Superman of the Series Supergirl is coming to AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2017

Get ready ladies and gentlemen (well, mostly ladies) as this hot Superman and Teen Wolf actor is coming to Manila as AsiaPOP Comicon 2017 is bringing Tyler Hoechlin to this year’s biggest pop culture event.

Who is Tyler Hoechlin? He is an American actor who got his big break starring as Michael Sullivan, Jr. in the film Road to Perdition (2002). For television he is known for playing the role of Martin Brewer on 7th Heaven and the role of Derek Hale on the MTV series Teen Wolf. In 2016, Hoechlin was cast as Superman on the CW show Supergirl.
