Misaki Con 2015_0001

For the fourth straight year, Misaki Con has brought fun and excitement to the cosplay community as this year’s edition electrified the recently opened SM Center Angono Mall just last weekend.  Those in the local cosplay scene know and love Ashley Misaki, a bright and talented young lady who has taken the local cosplay scene to new heights, winning award after award with her striking costumes and fierce performances.  Those who have loved and supported Ashley have since organized Misaki Con, a unique  event  meant to celebrate cosplaying as a hobby and to foster togetherness within the community.  Our friends at Cosmic Bytes Cosplay Shop are the major sponsors of the event, and arkadymac.com is proud to be its official media partner.

Misaki Cyber Con 2014

It was all about having a simple, wholesome, and engaging cosplay experience at last weekend’s Misaki Cyber Con 2014.  Held at SM Taytay last Sunday, August 31, renowned chibi cosplayer Ashley Misaki with his family and friends brought excitement to their fans and supporters with the next installment to a series of events three years in the making.  eThose in the local cosplay scene know and love Ashley Misaki, a bright and talented young lady who has taken the local cosplay scene to new heights, winning award after award with her amazing costumes and fierce performances.  Those who have loved and supported Ashley have since organized Misaki Con, a unique  event  meant to celebrate cosplaying as a hobby and to foster togetherness within the community.  It was free and open to the public, and all they had to do was have fun.  Also, arkadymac.com was the official media partner for this event, and we are bringing you the highlights right here.

Celebrity cosplayer Liui Aquino graced the event with a special appearance.  Having had much acclaim for his recent Hiccup of How to Train Your Dragon 2 cosplay, he has become even more known to the public and wanted to thank his fans at his special meet and greet session within CyberCon. Set for early afternoon last August 31, 2014, the event had fans coming in as early as mall opening just to make sure they get the chance to meet their idol.  Everyone was ecstatic when they heard about it only the day before, so they eagerly awaited Liui’s appearance.  He then came out from the back stage cosplaying as Koushi “Suga” Sugawara of Haikyuu!! to the cheers of the audience.  He then addressed the crowd and thanked them for coming and extending their support.

Then came the meet-and-greet proper at the side of the venue where a really long line of fans almost immediately appeared in front of the table set up for the event.  Fans eagerly awaited their turn as Liui graciously signed autographs on tarps, posters, magazines, had selfies, and had his photos taken with his fans.  Cosplayers look up to Liui, which was probably why their support for him was the warmest of all.  They of course did not pass up the opportunity to share a short chat with him, exchange cos cards, take selfies, and do signature poses with him in front of the camera.otwithstanding the long line and huge turnout of the meet and greet, Liui was able to accommodate everyone, and after giving away more prizes with Cosmic Bytes, it was time for him to leave, but not without the applause and appreciation of the crowd.  It was a fun and memorable encounter with everyone, with Liui the most grateful one of all.

By afternoon the cosplayers had gathered and they participated in the Cosplay parade around the mall as they showed off their unique cosplays to curious mall patrons and visitors.

Misaki Con is particularly special because it attracts the most number of chibi cosplayers from all over than any other cosplay event or convention.  As a chibi cosplayer herself, Ashley has been admired by other children who truly enjoy cosplaying, as well as by parents who have long been impressed by Ashley’s exceptional  talent as a cosplayer and competitor.

The highlight of the event was the individual cosplay competition where more than a hundred cosplayers vied for many wonderful prizes in many different categories.  The participants wowed the crowd with their stunning costumes and exciting performances.

Misaki_Cyber_Con_2014_0008

Serving as judges of this event were internationally-renowned cosplayer VM Hernandez, skilled crafter and cosplayer Krizdel Ingreso, cosplayer Shane and Xtian Mack, Creative Director of arkadymac.com with yet another blurry photo of himself.  They had the hardest time picking out the best from the many contestants who gave their all in their performances.  Even as we commend everyone’s wonderful efforts, in the end the choices had been made.  The Best Crossplayer went to Derrick Padilla.  Best Chibi went to Louise Rielle as Elsa of Frozen, with lots of support from herloving mom.  The Best Female award went to TanTin Meneses as Lenneth Valkyrie of Valkyrie Profile.  Best Male went to Jayson Tabuzo, and Best Mecha went to Rb Cheng.

Of course Ashley was there in her adorable Annie of League of Legends cosplay to greet his fans, have pictures with them, and share in the fun and excitement everyone was having.

With the number of attendees and participants in the hundreds, Misaki Cyber Con 2014 was a great success, thanks to the amazing team of organizers, friends and supporters who took on the challenge to make Misaki Con the spectacle that it is.  We congratulate them for a job truly well done.  Special thanks to Cosmic Bytes for being the main sponsor of this event as well.

It was a great competition, with the chibi cosplayers judged by their peers on stage but all were good friends afterwards, playing around, chasing each other, just being kids.  When you’ve been to enough cosplay events and conventions, it’s still always a delight seeing children having fun while cosplaying.

Ashley: Sky High

AshleyMisaki_FirstFeature_0001

We have always been fascinated by this talented little lady for her fierce performances in cosplay competitions, which is why we are glad to have Ashley Misaki as our newest Cosplay Model here at arkadymac.com and publish her first ever online feature.  Photos and post-editing by Bryan, Bless as Executive Producer, Xtian as Writer/Director.

AshleyMisaki_FirstFeature_0005

Ashley Misaki is a familiar face in and around the cosplay circuit.  She started cosplaying 2012 and has since made quite an impact in competitions here and abroad.  Even at her young age she’s never been afraid to go head to head with older, more experienced competitors, never afraid of jumping off the stage and charging through the crowd to do her routine, never afraid to perform in front of hundreds of people, all eyes on her every move.  Her performances never fail to impress and astound, and these have brought her many awards in competitions all around the country.

AshleyMisaki_FirstFeature_0023

Ashley’s appeal and charm has made her a cosplay celebrity in her own right.  She has become an endorser for companies like Red Fox Technologies and several cosplay shops.  She also helps promote cosplay events as well, and she even has a convention named after her.

AshleyMisaki_FirstFeature_0021

At events, people can’t get enough of her and Ashley enjoys taking pictures with her adoring supporters.   Before and after competitions, she can be seen acting her age, running around event halls with her friends, especially other chibi cosplayers.

AshleyMisaki_FirstFeature_0013

Outside cosplaying, Ashley says she’s a normal 7-year-old who enjoys watching shows from Cartoon Network.  After school work, she likes playing games on her Xbox, but admits she loves Dance Central most of all.  She also enjoys the company of her friends who she often gets to see at events, and she has fun playing with them as much as she can.

AshleyMisaki_FirstFeature_0006

Surprisingly, Ashley tells us she wants to be a pilot in the future.  Something about being the sky and clouds appeals to her, and for now, perhaps, flying with all its freedom will be her dream.  But until that time comes, she’ll continue cosplaying because she says it’s something that she really loves doing and that it makes her family really proud of her.

AshleyMisaki_FirstFeature_0016

Ashley would like to personally thank everyone who has supported her throughout the years and promises more exciting cosplays and performances in the future.

One of the highlights of the event was the MSI Cosplay Reloaded Competition, with focus of course on Dragon Nest and Avatar Star game-inspired cosplays.  The event had several different categories like best chibi and special/costrip categories.

After the competition, the cosplayers disappeared, which made it the quickest cosplay-event we’ve ever been to.  We at least got to take some photos of the attendees.
