Upcoming Event Extreme Moments 3 Promo_0002

Excitement and high expectations have been going around the community as the third edition of successful Extreme Moments Out-of-Town Cosplay Project Series has been announced. Filling entire buses of cosplayers and photographers for fun and amazing shoots in distant but spectacular locations outside the city, having shot at Capones Island in Zambales (click for our coverage of Day 1 and Day 2) and at Mt. Samat in Bataan (our coverage can be found here) for the first two editions both earlier this year, Extreme Moments has become a highly anticipated event for the community for its efforts to provide a refreshingly unique experience far different from the usual conventions people have gotten used to.

Pushing the limits of having a unique and exhilarating experience for cosplayers and photographers,  the Extreme Moments Out-of-Town Cosplay Project Series once again set off on another grand adventure after a wildly successful first installment in Capones Island, Zambales earlier this year (click for our coverage of Day 1 and Day 2).  Again filling an entire tourist bus with eager intrepid participants, the team set off to Mt. Samat in Bataan for yet another memorable trip.

Our beach cosplay adventure started early this year on a far-flung island called Capones, almost 4 kilometers off the coast of Brgy. Pundaquit, San Antonio, Zambales. The first edition of what would be retroactively (and aptly) called the Extreme Moments Out-of-Town Cosplay Project Series, was planned as a straightforward location shoot for intrepid photographers and cosplayers with earnest desires to take their skills to the next level, and the group got much more than what they signed up for as they battled the elements and gravity and ended up with an adventure of a lifetime.

Our first cosplay story for the new year takes place on a far-flung island called Capones, almost 4 kilometers off the coast of Brgy. Pundaquit, San Antonio, Zambales.  Originally planned as a straightforward location shoot for intrepid photographers and cosplayers with earnest desires to take their skills to the next level, the group got much more than what they signed up for as they battled the elements and gravity and ended up with an adventure of a lifetime.

Outdoor photoshoots are great opportunities to get really great shots with lots of action amid great scenery.  However, one must contend with nature’s less convenient side. like the heat, sudden rain, humidity, mud, and lots of bugs.   Of course, the reliable senior field correspondents of arkadymac.com, Nyanbu and Obito-kun, will never mind going head-on against such perils and just laugh in the face of discomfort as they bring you our special coverage of the Invitational Otaku URule Photoshoot 4, or IOP4.  It is a photo marathon where cosplayers are paired with photographers and have photoshoots inside the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife in Quezon City.

Obito-kun and Nyanbu report for duty despite almost going mad from the summer heat.

The theme for this particular event was “groups,” so cosplayers whose characters are from the same anime, manga, game, comic, or cartoon had a chance to show their stuff and had fun with their fellows.   Despite the intense heat and humidity and even a strong, sudden rain shower in the afternoon, those who participated in the even had a blast as another successful cosplay event came to an end.

Here are some of the photos we took at the event.  Thank you for dropping by and please do visit us again soon.

Gong Xi Fa Cai in Mandarin and Gong Hey Fat Choy in Cantonese!  Xtian Mack’s Cosplay and Anime Cafe welcomes the Year of the Water Snake with a big bang with our special coverage of Chinoy Hao Bang 2013 at SM by the Bay at the SM Mall of Asia. Touted as the biggest Chinese New Year Celebration in Manila, Chinoy TV and Filipino-Chinese businesses, schools and organizations brought the best of Chinese culture in a spectacular display for everyone in attendance to see and experience.

The exhibition grounds were filled with booths from participating clubs, organizations and businesses wanting to wish everyone luck and prosperity, bringing  games, prizes and giveaways to all those present.  Early in the day there was a Chinese lantern-making contest with participants and their creations reflecting the Year of the Snake in their designs. The program proper started with a cultural show that saw amazing performances from talented Filipino-Chinese students in beautiful, colorful costumes.  They wowed the crowd in singing, dancing and acrobatics.

There was also a cosplay competition for Chinese-themed characters. The cosplayers performed on stage to the delight of the crowd.  There was then a delightful dragon dance performance as it turned evening, providing a festive mood up to the end of the program. To cap it off, a wonderful fireworks display was set off and it was beautiful as it was by the bay, the lights reflecting and illuminating off the waters of historic Manila Bay.

ChiHaoBang003

All in all, it was an amazing event that set a great start for the Chinese New Year.

Cosplay Coverage

It was quite rare to have a cosplay event with a Chinese theme attached to it, yet there were brave souls with lots of imagination who rose to the challenge.

ChiHaoBang088

And of course, there are those cosplayers like me who just wanted to cosplay and wish everyone well in the Year of the Water Snake.
