MANHID = Superheroes+Eraserheads+RadioactiveSagoProject+Ballet.
I was 16 when we re-staged MANHID at the PSHS (SY1995-96). Even with beginner film photography skills, and almost none as sound tech, this small group still welcomed me like family. We only did 7 shows yet the story, emotions, characters and songs never really faded from my heart.
Fast forward to 2015: Similar issues still plague our country. Many Filipinos are too distracted or self-absorbed to give a F*** about things that truly matter. We love the superheroes in comics/tv/movies and there’s nothing wrong with that. Let us take that spirit and be “everyday heroes”, making the world better a little each day.

Auraeus Solito wrote MANHID, first staged 1991.
Tips Akalal played Sidapa in 1991, then taught at Pisay 1993-1996.
Tips directed the Pisay restaging and auditioned 1st-4th years.
Teetin Villanueva plays Lam-ang/Lagrimas and is from Pisay SMC.

MANHID will be staged at the CCP Main Theater on February 20-22, February 27-March 1, and March 6-8.
