Anime Reviews

Anime can border on the life-like to the absurd, like this playful scene.

What makes anime appealing to young and old alike? Simple: imagination.  Whether it is about the real or fictional world or anything in between, anime is unparalleled as a medium in making audiences laugh, cry, gasp, scream, dream and wonder.  Anime takes us to the farthest reaches of the universe, to times long forgotten, to faraway fantastic kingdoms, to the depths of the human soul. As a constantly-evolving art, anime no longer seeks to mainly entertain: it challenges the way we look at our world and stretches the limits of our imagination.

I say this as a person who has watched more than 300 anime series. I am constantly surprised at the depth and variety of anime in the different genres.  The reactions they elicit go through the entire spectrum of human emotions, which is probably why I think there is an anime for every type of person.

The world of anime can be daunting and confusing to the uninitiated, which is why I have taken upon myself to hopefully enlighten people who think anime as nothing more than immature, illogical and shallow form of entertainment. Well, not to say that there aren’t anime that are  immature, illogical and shallow, but there are really amazing and truly memorable anime just waiting to be discovered.  Ii is my ardent wish for people to have an open mind to the exciting and fascinating possibilities this medium has to offer.

Finished watching my 300th anime some time ago and currently watching a few more despite the rigors of working for a living and maintaining a Web site.  According to a list in Wikipedia, I’ve still got around 2,000 more to go, with a hundred or so new series coming out each year.

I was forced to make a pact with Archangel Duriel that I will write reviews for each and every one of these, so please pray for me so that I can write proper reviews for each, hopefully within my lifetime.

It will help me a lot if you can read some of them and leave a comment or two.  Thank you, and happy reading.
