Experience a truly unique performance art from Japan as All Nippon Airways (ANA) in cooperation with the Japan Foundation, Manila, will host ANA Yose Rakugo in English on January 26, 2019 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium, Makati City. It will feature performances by Rakugo Masters Katsura Kaishi, Katsura Asakichi, Katsura Fukuryu, Hayashiya Emimaru and Traditional Juggler Akatsuki Anko.
Rakugo is a Japanese traditional storytelling art that can trace its roots to more than four centuries ago and still enjoys wide popularity to this day. The Rakugo artist sits on a cushion and, using only a Japanese fan (sensu) and a hand towel (tenugui) as props, reenacts well-loved stories by playing out different characters. Currently, it is said that 800 professional Rakugo performers exist in Japan.

Regional live performances of Rakugo in English will also be held in Marco Polo Ballroom, Davao City on Jan 23, 2019 at 7:00pm and Mindanao Kokusai Daigaku on January 24, 2019 at 3:00pm.
