Extreme public interest in what immediately became the biggest pop culture event in the Philippines this year drew in huge crowds at Day 2 of AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2015. Spanning the entire floor area of the World Trade Center, APCC featured an impressive lineup of spectacular guests from here and abroad as well as and unique attractions from around the world for attendees to enjoy.
arkadymac.com is an official online media partner for AsiaPOP Comicon Manila 2015, and we are glad to bring you the scenes and highlights of the event. With us covering the APCC were our Cosplay Model and Photographer Czyrah and Correspondent Ai Chi, who got to enjoy the sights and sounds of APCC while in cosplay.
Alongside the many amazing attractions the previous days offered, the day started off with a talk about Cosplay with special guests Allison Harvard, Bill Doran, Vampy Bit Me, Alodia Gosiengfiao and Jay Tablante. They had a fun discussion on the many fascinating things about themselves as cosplayers and the many different things that went into making cosplay and crafting and photography the art and phenomenon that it has become today.
Later on, the media were treated to interviews with Nathalie Emmanuel and Colton Haynes. We’ll have the videos of our interviews with these fascinating personalities very soon.
There was an exclusive screening of Captain America: Civil War, a much-anticipated based on the popular Marvel comic feature. Security checked all devices and limited the number of audience before closing the gates. Then there was a line already for the next event, an interview with Paul Bettany. A good part of the hall was packed with people wanting to watch “Vision” in person, despite the gigantic video wall. The host opened up topics ranging from his former roles to his recent appearance in the Avengers. Paul mentions that he was at a disadvantage, as majority of the audience had already seen him naked in “A Knight’s Tale”, to which everybody laughed.
The Cosplay Authority Global Challenge (CAGE) Open Category Finals started later in the afternoon, but it was worth the wait. The hosts introduced the event and called up the judges to do a short catwalk on stage. The judges were Allison Harvard, Bill Doran, Vampy Bit Me, Alodia Gosiengfiao and Jay Tablante.
With $10,000 at stake and the chance to represent the country in Abu Dhabi later this year, the finalists pulled out all the stops and gave it their all.
After all the cosplay finalists had taken the stage, the hosts said the results will be announced on Day 3. It was then followed by the Vocaloid Jam with DJ’Tekina/Yuyoyupe. Make Out Monday finished off the stage performances with an exciting jamming session. Fans were pressed up to the fence and enjoying the band’s music.
A spectacular fireworks display in front of the World Trade Convention Center gave a fitting closure to Day 2 of the APCC 2015 festivities. But there’s still more to look forward to as Day 3 happens the very next day, with even more attractions and guests and surprises for everyone.
