We are fortunate enough to get a short interview with one of the most outstanding cosplayers in the Philippines, Lyron Aquino, also known as Lychiii. Lychiii is from his nickname Ly and a positive answer for any question, “yes.” “Yes” in Spanish with an Asian kick. A universal acquiescence for a wondering world.
He started cosplaying October 2005 at the Hero Channel Grand Launch as Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece.
He finds the cosplay community fun. People of the same interest get to meet and make friends with each other. In 2014, he and his friends, Abraham and Rio,represented the Philippines at the Asia Cosplay Meet Grand Finals in Singapore. They triumphed as they competed against 9 other talented teams from different countries as they claimed first place.
Some of his favorite cosplays include Barnaby Brooks Jr. from Tiger and Bunny, Edge Maverick from Star Ocean 4, Monkey D. Luffy from One Piece, and Genos from One Punch Man. The overall character design interests him when choosing a character to cosplay. The characters would typically be cybernetic or armored. His friends and some crafters that he looks up to inspire him to keep cosplaying.
He says in order to become a greater cosplayer, all you have to do is focus on what you want to accomplish for this hobby. Nothing more, nothing less. And it will all be worth it! Lyron would also like to thank all his friends and followers for all their support!
