The preliminary Bootcamp for Garena AWC (Arena of Valor World Cup) in Thailand came to an end last week with the Thailand national team coming in first place. Having won over in an overwhelming 3:0 victory in a Best-of-5 finals against Chinese Taipei, Thailand team earned themselves the first seed in AWC. The matches also determined the grouping of the upcoming AWC tournament, with Team MSP falling under Group A, together with Thailand & North America.
12 teams clashed during a 2-week bootcamp in Bangkok, Thailand, to fight for their opportunity to be seeded in a higher position in AWC. The host, Garena Thailand, brought the other 11 teams out for local Thai activities where they were joined by renowned Thai Star, Nadech, who appeared as a special guest during the bootcamp!
In the semifinals and finals (23rd and 24th June), Chinese Taipei and Chinese Taipei Wild Card met in the group stage, with Chinese Taipei defeating the wildcard team 2:0 to advance to the semifinals. Chinese Taipei took down the Korean team with a clean record in a Best-of-3 series In the end, the finals saw Thailand representative meet the Chinese Taipei team, where Thailand played steadily yet aggressively, finally winning 3:0 in the end.
Team MSP ended their journey as a Tier 3 team with Europe, Indonesia, and South America. In the draw stage, they were picked to be in Group A with North America and Bootcamp champion, Thailand. The team is preparing for the tournament and enormous prize pool ahead, and is sure to come back stronger and better than in the Bootcamp!
Team MSP’s matches against Thailand will be livestreamed on 19 July 2018 (Thursday), while matches against North America will be on 20 July 2018 (Friday). All matches of the quarterfinals (20 to 21 July 2018), semifinals and finals (28 to 29 July 2018) will also be livestreamed. These matches will be shown on the official AOV platforms such as Official Garena AOV Facebook, Youtube, AWC Website, and the in-app streaming function – Valor TV.
