Topping off another phenomenal year in cosplay and J-culture in the country with a colorful and festive assortment of offerings and attractions, Cosplay Matsuri 2019 by Cosplay.ph definitely was the fulfilling closure that the community was looking for, with three days of non-stop fun at the SMX to get every attendee enjoy the holidays.
Already on its fifth year of bringing enjoyment to the cosplay and J-culture community, Cosplay Matsuri has seen tremendous growth in the number of attendees that have come to take part in the festivities year after year. This year’s event was inspired by the bright, colorful and enchanting festivals look and feel inspired by Japan’s extraordinary winters. With the torii gate, the Japanese bridge, the lanterns, plus many other attractions that made for a festive experience attendees won’t soon forget.
Off-stage activities and attractions like the Cosplay Diorama, Sumo Skirmish, and the Charms Wall had people buzzing with excitement as they enjoyed these attractions for free. there was the much anticipated attraction for Cosplay Matsuri, the Kimetsu no Yaiba Cosplay Diorama Photo Booth, for all avid KNY fans, complete with the Nezuko Box, and that was certainly a hit.
Games and crowd favorites like the Ano Na Wa Name Game and Poll Patrol and Cosplay Auctions had the audience happily occupied , while contests like the Anisong It Singing Contest, the Dokuen Cosplay Contest, and the Doujin Group Cosplay showcased the tremendous talent from all over the community with lots of amazing prizes given away.
No festival would be complete without booths filled with merchandise, and Cosplay Matsuri had over 90 booths and exhibitors to explore and find all the wonderful anime merch, toys, collectibles, cosplay and fashion accessories attendees have been craving for all year.
Pokemon Sword and Shield had just been recently launched and were at Cosplay Matsuri to spread some cheer with their adorable mascots in a parade and as well as a huge tournament with a trip to the Poke shop in Singapore as the top prize.
Cosplay Matsuri was even more stunning with the presence of special guest cosplayer from Hong Kong, Olivie, courtesy of Honokami-Sama. All throughout the event she has been connecting with her Filipino fans at Meet and Greet and autograph sessions, a stage interview and performance, as well as getting to judge the Anisong it Singing contest.
Cosplay Matsuri 2019 was organized by cosplay.ph and is presented by their amazing partners: Pokemon, Lightforce, HKTV, Mogu-Mogu, Magic Chips, Trampoline Park, Rapidshots 360 and Onigiriya.
