The event that has had people curious and excited since it started was back for another year of thrills and guilty pleasures. Yaoi Expo Lite 2020 had fans talking and coming to the Bayanihan Center in Pasig for the exquisite lineup of activities and attractions, as well as special guests Mine Mura, Hana-tox, and Azrael Santi, all for a fun and satisfying event. This also marks the second year that arkadymac.com has been Yaoi Expo’s media partner, so we are pleased to bring you the highlights from the event. Helping us out at our coverage is our newest correspondent, Chen Jiu.

From the outset, YX Lite is a Yaoi/BL appreciation event with a focus on creating an audience-centered experience where everyone can enjoy yaoi to the fullest and meet fellow fujos and fudans. Yaoi and BL has become much more than a passing curiosity in the country as people have already been clamoring for it, and the steady number of attendees is a testament to that.

As expected of fujos and fudans, everyone was really into the lively and colorful atmosphere that Yaoi Expo brings every year. Everyone was busy having fun, with others enjoying cosplaying their favorite characters, folks busy browsing for and purchasing art and merchandise from the many exhibitors and artists to be had all around the venue.

Yaoi Expo Lite also featured guest artists Mine Mura, Hana-tox, and Azrael Santi who were there to share their craft and take part in the festivities. They also had Meet and Greet sessions where their fans got to know more about them, share a few words and photos, and have their works autographed by their respected and admired artists. We asked them what their opinion was on Yaoi being more open and prevalent in the country, and they said that it was generally a positive sign as long as the respect and openness is there.

Special stage activities like the Yaoi Auction were a hit among attendees, as much-coveted merch and art were up for grabs at amazing prices.

The audience went wild when special autographed artwork from the guests, Mine Mura, Hana-tox, and Azrael Santi, fetching a handsome amount from avid fans who won very competitive bids.

All in all an enjoyable event, we commend everyone behind Yaoi Expo for a job well done, and that we are just some of the many who are already looking forward to next years event.
