Komikon is the much awaited yearly event for Pinoy Comic artists, publishers and enthusiasts. On it’s tenth year, the organizers did well enough to maximize the use of the space in Bayanihan Center in Pasig.
The ticket was 100php and for that you get to enter, an event catalog, 2 comics, film showings, talks and if you line up you can get personal masterpieces. Add those up with various discounts and you have a great deal 🙂
At separate times of the day, the special guests sat on stage and got interviewed about their craft. The stage was cute and doubled as a bench for tired con-goers, even during the program 🙂
Melvin Calingo “Local Independent Komiks Megastar”
Stephen Segovia “International Comic Book Superstar”
Meanwhile in the conference rooms, the Webcomic Panel featured Jonas Diego, Hub Pacheco, Carlos San Juan.
Film Screenings included Illustrated by, Komikero Chronicles and Tiktik.
Indie Tiangge featured indie artists and merchendise.
Our initial goal was Manhid: Origin Comic. Taginip (Taga-Panaginip). It is based on Manhid by Kanakan-Balintagos (Auraeus Solito), Story and Colors by Jamie Bautista, Illustrated by Jim Jimenez.
As a promotion by Ballet Philippines for the Manhid: Musical, only 50 pieces were done for the first print. For more information about the upcoming musical, please visit the following links:

Either by signing up online or lining up, fans can be treated to Komik Kalye Personal Masterpieces from great artists: Jim Jimenez, Dexter Soy, Lui Antonio, Heubert Khan Michael, Jethro Morales, Elmer Damaso, Roy Allan Martinez, Kim Jacinto.
Trese Book of Murders was Awarded as Best Graphic Novel. The Trese series is popular and the creators (Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo) were there to sign their works for the fans.
With the restricted space and probably divergent interests, only a handful of cosplayers made their appearance. There was No Face, Rocket, Star Lord and some other cosplayers.
It was a great event and we’re excited for next year or the summer con.
