The fun and engaging nature of anime has contributed to the popularity of Japanese culture in the Philippines, and we at the site are happy to see that schools can foster this enthusiasm among their students. We got to witness this firsthand as Animax, Asia’s first channel brand specializing in Japanese animation, got to hold OO-kun School Tour Adventure at Chiang Kai Shek College in Manila. With lots of games, giveaways, contests and surprises, it was indeed an adventure into learning, fun and excitement as the studentry shared its fascination for anime, cosplay, and Japanese culture.
On its second year, Animax brings OO-kun School Tour Adventure to students around the country, making its first stop at Chiang Kai Shek College in Manila. Long known for its dedication to academic excellence, Chiang Kai Shek College shows that it also nurtures the passion and creativity of its students in other endeavors and have given full support for the event.
Beyond broadcasting anime all over Asia, Animax also actively engages its audiences at local events like its signature Animax Carnival, and OO-kun School Tour Adventure is their way to spread the love and joy that anime and Japanese culture brings at the grassroots level, as students get to revel in learning about these while having fun with their friends and peers.
Various game booths were set up around the school quadrangle. Student participants lined up at each one of them to play games and perform tasks to collect stamps for their passport. Accomplishing more would get them more stamps that they could trade in for more freebies from Animax, like notebooks, fans, tumblers, pillows, and other fun merchandise. There was also a photobooth in the lobby, with costumes provided for more fun with their photos as mementos of this special day.
Animax’s adorable mascot Oo-kun was there to spread fun and cuteness to everyone, and everyone just can’t get enough of him, having photos with him and sometimes just feeling his soft blue fur.
There were also stage activities with a program consisting of games, special numbers from the students and a fashion and cosplay competition which brought out the talent, enthusiasm, creativity and passion of the students, and winners got to take home some really nice prizes from Animax and Sony.
It rained various times during the event, but it didn’t dampen the fun that everyone was having at the event, and when it ended with the awarding and parting words, everyone was still all smiles as the OO-kun School Tour Adventure succeeded in bringing the joy and imagination of anime, cosplay and Japanese culture to their school.
The OO-kun School Tour Adventure are a series of events leading up to Animax Carnival, its annual flagship event, coming this October 15-16, 2016 at the SMX Convention Center. Special international guests, more games and surprizes are in store so please do check it out.
