Getting to know more about the extraordinary and fascinating culture, people, products and places of Japan has never this fun as Japan Fiesta 2019 brought loads of fun, treats and attractions from the Land of the Rising Sun last weekend at the SMX Convention Center in SM Aura. arkadymac.com is a proud media partner of the event, and we’re happy to bring you the highlights from this remarkable event.

Helping us out on our coverage were our Editor-in-Chief Jillian and our Correspondent Rica, who got to enjoy and experience the many wonderful attractions that filled the venue.

Japan has always been a place of fascination for most Filipinos, and Japan Fiesta 2019 made sure to bring in the best tourism booths, delicious Japanese food, unique Japanese culture, special guest performances, and more for all attendees, and entrance was entirely free.

The two-day event was helpful to those seeking to travel to Japan, or are curious about the culture, food and other aspects of Japanese life. Attendees got to discover the many amazing destinations in Japan, with tourism boards from Hokkaido, Tohoku, Niigata, Kyushu, Yuzawa, and Okinawa offering discounts on travel packages only available at the event!

There were also some very interesting exhibitor booths including Don Quijote – Japan’s largest discount store, Universal Studios Japan – Japan’s no. 1 theme park according to Trip Advisor, Rokko Butter Co., Ltd., JR East, and JR Kyushu.

Particularly engaging and memorable for us was our experience at the Discovery Japan Photo Wedding where guests could experience a Japanese wedding ceremony while wearing traditional Japanese kimono. We had the pleasure of meeting Japanese designer Sanae-san who accommodated our Cosplay Model Rica and fit her into a very charming kimono.

Japan Fiesta also featured special guests including Pinoy Big Brother 8 comedy tandem FumiYam and Filipino VJ and Japan lakwatsero Robi Domingo. There were also high energy performances by Sarah Geronimo, and the all-girl sing-and-dance group MNL48.

The event was also graced with the presence of the iconic Pikachu, Japanese drum artists Wakodaiko, comedy trio HPN 3 and Yo-Yo professional performer, Tomonari Ishiguro also known as BLACK. Semi-pro e-sports players from Japan were also there to challenge event guests. Everyone was welcome to play the games Puyo Puyo Champions, Winning Eleven 2019, Gran Turismo SPORT, and Tekken 7 at the e-sports area.

Attendees also had a delightful time tasting Japanese food and products from the participating exhibitors Tomochan Ramen, Pocky, House Foods, Kirin, Nippon Premium Bakery, Ikomai and Tochi Desserts, and Yakult.

This successful event was organized through the cooperation of the Japan Fiesta Council made up of the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines, Japan National Tourism Organization Manila Office, the Japan Foundation, Manila, the Japanese Association, Manila, Inc. and Primer Media, Inc. Congratulations to all of you, and we’re already looking forward to next year’s edition.
