Fans of anime, art, Japanese music and culture were once again busy and excited as they trooped to very first major community event on the calendar, Otaku Expo Anime & Manga Drawing Special 2020. Aside from highlighting creativity with activities that display artistic skills such as tutorials and onstage demonstrations, the event also featured games and attractions that attendees got to enjoy throughout the weekend.

arkadymac.com has been Otaku Expo’s official media partner for six years now, and we are glad to bring you the highlights of the event with our correspondents Jane and Celine.

Headlining this year’s edition of Otaku Expo were renowned special guest artists from all over. The stellar lineup included Elmer Damaso who worked for the popular Culture Crash Comics, Black Ink and currently for Titan Comics. There was also Little Things PH who won the hearts of many with his quirky short comics on social media sites. Japanese illustrator named DMYO who illustrates for Danny Choo’s Culture Japan and popular Japanese games was also there for a demonstration. Other guests from the art industry were also there for the festivities.

Otaku Expo 2020 was made fun and exciting with their trademark activities such as anime singing contests, trivia games, and eating contests to the delight of the crowd.

A highlight of the event was the cosplay competition which showcased the talents of extraordinary cosplayers who had incredible performances on stage to the cheers of the crowd. The competition was judged by our Correspondent and Cosplay Model Jane Yu alongside outstanding and renowned cosplayers Roxanne and Zack.

Spectacular performances from guest groups like Aidoru Sozai had the audience on their feet cheering with their music.

Otaku Expo Anime & Manga Drawing Special 2020 also got to celebrate the Lunar New Year, complete with a traditional lion dance, as well as games with red envelopes and tikoy as prizes played at the gaming booth.

Otaku Expo also showcased over 50 artists and exhibitors who brought in an amazing array of art work, merch and collectibles that con goers flocked to with delight, including community clothing brands Perry and Disguise, T-Tees. and Genki Shoppu.
