It was a fun and enjoyable weekend for fans of anything and everything anime as the very first AniCon brought the many fandoms together. Presented by UNBOX Greenhills in partnership with Ozine Fest, AniCon was a free and open-to-the-public event which featured lots of anime merchandise, auctions, an Artist Alley, Anime Singing Contest, a Cosplay Competition and so much more.

arkadymac.com has long been a media partner for Ozine Fest events, so we were thrilled to do coverage once again with our Correspondents Lia and Sabthulu and photographer Jake as we bring you the highlights from this event at Greenhills Promenade.

One of the biggest cosplay and anime event organizers, Ozine Fest, partnered with Unbox, an established one-stop-shop for cards, toys, watches, sneakers, and beyond to bring the AniCon to the wider public. This free event has been well-attended by the scores of cosplayers and con-goers who reveled at the refreshing experience of having an event at a new venue: the Upperbox Events Place. This new venue was spacious enough to accommodate the attendees without too much crowding as it showcased a lot of artist booths, merchant booths and other exhibitors.

AniCon was a free and open-to-the-public event which featured engaging contests like the Anime Singing Contest which showcased very spirited and very entertaining performances from some talented singers from all around the community. Serving as judge for this contest was arkadymac.com’s Correspondent Lia, who has been performing with J-rock bands for many years and has won awards at several Battle of the Bands. With the many spectacular performances on stage, she admits having a difficult time scoring the contestants.

There was also the hotly contested Cosplay Competition that saw around 30 cosplayers battling it out in a fierce series of catwalks and unusual performances, but all to the delight and cheers of a very supportive crowd. Serving as judge for the contest was arkadymac.com’s Creative Director Christian Mack who had a tough time scoring the great performances of the many contestants.

And of course, arkadymac.com is there for the cosplayers, and we got to see a lot of wonderful cosers showing off their best poses in their colorful and carefully crafted costumes. They had fun having photos with the crowd as well as each other, showing off how cosplay is a passion and hobby anyone can enjoy.

AniCon was an enjoyable event where the community’s strong love of anime and anime merchandise brought out a sense of belonging and fun with everyone, as well as setting up the stage for a much anticipated event, Otaku Expo Tanabata Special 2022. We hope to see you there as we bring you the highlights of the event.

Many thanks to arkadymac.com’s Correspondents Lia and Sabthulu and photographer Jake for helping us cover the event.
