Japanese festivals have always been fun, colorful and lively, and taking inspiration from these celebrations was Otaku Expo Tanabata Festival 2024 as it treated its legions of avid fans to a fantastic time last August 31 and September 1, 2024 at the Megatrade Halls of SM Megamall. Attendees got to enjoy the festive atmosphere filled with attractions, guest performers, special guests, games and contests spread all throughout the weekend.
Giving the community a reason to gather and have fun with their fandoms, Otaku Expo Tanabata Festival 2024 has been one of Ozine Fest’s premier events, often been held mid-year to coincide with the famed Japanese celebration. It offered attendees the opportunity to experience a tanabata-themed affair that involved a lot of decorations and attractions, with one of the highlights being the famous Wish Tree. There were also booths for Goldfish Scooping, Shateki (Target Shooting), Senbonbiki (Pull a String) and Wanage (Toss Ring) which were thoroughly enjoyed by participants. And for those who wish to enjoy the event with the appropriate attire and fineries, the kimono booth by Kristoff was there to fulfill their wishes.
As with any festival, a multitude of exhibitors, merchants, and artists and their booths were present for attendees to browse through their merch, artwork, collectibles and other fabulous items up for sale, which include our friends from T-Tees and Perry in Disguise.
Various stage games, raffles, eating contests, auctions and other features kept the audience engaged and excited on both days.
Otaku Expo Tanabata Festival 2024 got to feature a lot of the community’s beloved contests and competitions. The Kimono Cosplay Competition has been a mainstay of the Tanabata Festival. The Pet Cosplay competition has been a fan favorite as participants from the community dress up their furry companions in fabulous cosplays. The Singing Contest has always been popular with the crowd and got to showcase some of the best voices in the community. Meanwhile, the Battle of the Bands got music fans excited to catch some of the most exciting bands in the community play their incredible music in front of a live audience.
Special guest cosplayers and personalities came from all over to the world to take part in the festivities and bring even more color and engagement at Otaku Expo Tanabata Festival 2024 with guest appearances and meet and greets, including Hakao, Mon, Lia Bear, Cholo Tolentino, Kitz Cua, Solibeau, Misuru, Kris Rey, Amara TV and arkadymac.com’s Correspondent and Cosplay Model, Jane Yu.
Otaku Expo Tanabata Festival 2024, along with its sponsors and guests, gave fans and their many fandoms a memorable event where they got to enjoy themselves and where they got to celebrate the many fun and unique things that they have in common.
