It was definitely a day to remember as fans and cosplayers of the popular tactical RPG game Arknights had a delightful time with sweet treats, engaging games and activities at “It’s Dokutah’s Day Off: An Arknights-themed Cupsleeve Event.” Held with much fanfare last October 27, 2024 at Q Cup Philippines, West Ave., Quezon City, this event was a long-overdue gathering of fans getting to share their love and passion for the game.
Organizers Arknights Cosplay PH got to invite avid fans of the game to meet other dokutahs and their favorite operators for an afternoon of fun and camaraderie. Q Cup Philippines proved to be an apt and cozy venue for the event, with help from their accommodating staff.
Stephen, one of the organizers of It’s Dokutah’s Day Off, shares how their wishes for an Arknights-themed cupsleeve event were fulfilled and brought to life: “As fans of Arknights, we were hoping that there would be an official event here in the country, but it’s a very small possibility since the game’s market here is not as big as China or Japan. We’ve already brainstormed about the cupsleeve event last year, but we decided to hold it this year to have enough preparation time. We already knew about an Arknights fan event held in Cebu, so we decided to push our own event for the Metro Manila fanbase. The main goal for the event is to celebrate the Global/EN version’s 4th Anniversary, hence the original July 28 event date.”
Stephen recalls the unforeseen developments that put the event on hold: “Unfortunately, Typhoon Carina made landfall during the week leading up to the event, bringing heavy rainfall and a lot of areas were flooded. We decided to postpone the event to October 27 to give attendees ample time to recover. We were also nervous since there was another typhoon in the week leading up to the new date, but we cannot postpone any further. Fortunately, we were blessed with good weather on the day, and a lot of attendees still managed to arrive.”
And it was indeed an event well worth the wait as attendees got to enjoy a food and drink combo specially curated for the event with their ticket purchase, as well as event-exclusive merchandise prepared by their very talented Art Team, which included CRIMSON, Sylmayu, Xela, Snack, Stacy and KerzArt. Arknights-themed activities included an enjoyable program hosted by brilliant hosts Korin and Anpanne with Stephen, and it was filled with games, AVPs, raffles, and auctions that kept attendees happily engaged on the second floor, while the first floor was bustling with a photowall and bingo card activities.
arkadymac.com’s Photographer and Correspondent Marivic shares her experience at It’s Dokutah’s Day Off: “From the moment you stepped inside, you could feel it, the pure, shared excitement of fans who live and breathe Arknights, brought together by their love for the game. Every corner of Q CUP café was alive with the community’s energy and passion, thanks to Arknights Cosplay PH.”
“It was an event that wasn’t just about fandom; it was about creating memories, feeling part of something bigger, and celebrating together. The welcome was heartfelt, with free stickers and loot bags filled with surprises, tote bags, mini posters, lanyards, cupsleeves, like a treasure for fans. And the Arknights Bingo Guide? It took the excitement to new levels.”
“Each task was a chance to connect with the community and create moments worth remembering: Posing at the photowall, capturing the joy and camaraderie. Snapping a photo with a cosplay staff member who embodied the characters they love. Challenging a cosplayer to a game of rock-paper-scissors and reveling in the spirit of friendly fun. Following Arknights Cosplay PH on Facebook, supporting the very group that makes these moments possible. -Those who completed the bingo tasks earned an adorable plushie, more than a prize, it was a keepsake of an unforgettable day.”
“But the fun didn’t stop there. Raffles and trivia filled the air with anticipation, some fans won exclusive prizes, including a ₱500 voucher! Between rounds, everyone exchanged photo cards, laughed over cups of coffee, indulged in delicious cakes, and shared stories about their favorite Operators and in-game strategies. The spacious, welcoming vibe of Q CUP café only made it better, offering fans room to fully embrace the experience.”
“The venue felt like stepping straight into the world of Arknights, with life-sized standees, photobooths, and banners capturing every essence of the game. Cosplayers filled the room, some even wearing Rhode Island hoodies, their dedication bringing an extra level of authenticity. It was a place where you could be yourself, surrounded by friends who understood the excitement of every new Operator or hard-won victory. Stephen, the passionate mind behind this event, wanted to create a day of happiness for Arknights fans, a place where the game’s love could bloom in real life. And he succeeded. In every laugh, every photo, and every shared moment, you could feel it, the bond that connects fans and makes events like these unforgettable. This wasn’t just an event, it was a celebration of a shared passion that brings everyone together, stronger as a community than ever before. For those who love Arknights, it was a reminder of why people play and the joy of gathering with others who love it just as much.”
With attendees continually gushing about the event with positive feedback and glowing reviews, calls for a follow-up have been made. “We can’t say for sure on our side, but we do hope that more Arknights fan events like this would happen in the future,” said organizer Stephen. We will have to wait and see and hope that another one could happen with the support of its avid and passionate community.
