Always one of the most anticipated celebrations of cinema in the country, the Japanese Film Festival came back bigger than ever this 2025 with its opening night last September 18, 2025 at the Grand Atrium of Shangri-La
Plaza. Filled with an incredible line-up of cinematic masterpieces from Japan, JFF continues to draw Filipinos in the thousands to get their fill of Japanese culture on the big screen.
Bringing together renowned and illustrious figures from film and entertainment, as well as keynote speeches by prominent figures in the community, Japanese Film Festival 2025 did not fail to deliver an
engaging and thrilling experience to fans of Japanese cinema and pop culture with the screening of the festival’s featured film, Love Letter. The opening got to feature a truly touching poetry reading with live musical accompaniment, reflecting the passionate feelings reminiscent of the opening film’s overarching theme.
Presented by the Japan Foundation, Manila, JFF was launched in 1997 and has grown to become one of the most anticipated film festivals in the country, attracting over 40,000 cinema goers during last year’s run. JFF 2025 has an exciting lineup of films that will have something for everyone; from heart-thumping anime adventures to kilig-filled romantic comedies, and even blockbuster monster epics!
The Japanese Film Festival 2025 will be featuring 12 films, which will include beloved classics to critically acclaimed new releases. Admission is FREE for all screenings.
