An enchanting and lively day of festive fun and friendships marked Liwanari: A Concert Festival and Culminight,at the Gimenez Gallery in UP Diliman last May 15, 2026. As a part of 美月 (MiTsuki): A SalaMatsuri of Moonlit Reverie, a two-week long cultural celebration featuring exhibits, performances, and a concert festival, Liwanari was filled with the enthusiasm and gratitude of a university organization already celebrating 36 years of Filipino-Japanese friendship.

arkadymac.com has been a media partner for UP Tomo-Kai since 2014, so we were excited to cover their culminating event this year as they celebrate their organization’s 36th anniversary. It was a two-week celebration held from May 5 to 15 at the University of the Philippines Diliman. Featuring cultural exhibits and festivities, MiTsuki highlights the enduring bond between the Philippines and Japan while honoring the organization’s rich history and growing community.

As its culminating event, Liwanari got to invite and gather the community to revel in celebration under the moonlight, with phenomenal performances from cultural groups, J-pop-inspired acts, and independent artists, included Joshua Kim, Aidoru Cess, Mju:z Kiss, Hoshizora, Project Materia and other talented acts.

At the venue, attendees got to have a fantastic time with a variety of food concessionaires, amazing artist alleys, and interactive cultural booths. At this rare Japanese-centric university event, UP Tomo-Kai brought together the boundless energy of a Japanese matsuri and a Filipino fiesta all in one fabulous and festive experience.

Liwanari, as part of MiTsuki: A SalaMatsuri of Moonlit Reverie, was not only a celebration of UP Tomo-Kai’s 36th anniversary but also a heartfelt expression of gratitude to the communities, cultures, and connections that continue to define the organization, and we at arkadymac.com who have been covering their events for more than a decade, commend them for their effort and dedication in all their endeavors.
