arkadymac.com was an official media partner for the Otakuzine Anime Magazine Launch Party last November 30, 2014 at the Mall of Asia SMX Function Room 1. Hundreds of people got to attend the event that promised lots of fun for everyone, with long lines since opening.
Highlighting the Otakuzine Anime Magazine Launch Party was special guest cosplayer Misa from Taiwan. She is known all over the world for her spectacular cosplays, and she got to visit the Philippines for the second time for a special appearance. There was a press conference for her at Meeting Room 2 of the SMX with members of the local Otaku media, who were eager to as Misa lots of questions. She was then cosplaying Silica, a character from the manga and anime Sword Art Online.
She told us that she was happy to be back in the Philippines and was enjoying her stay here. She said cosplaying has become an important part of her life. She said that her parents were first against it but they eventually softened up as they saw the positive changes that cosplay had brought her, that she had become more personable and more outgoing since she started. Later on her parents softened up enough to let her enjoy cosplaying, and now they’re happy that she gets to travel the world as a prominent cosplayer.
Misa said she loves Sword Art Online, and has cosplayed several characters from it, like Sinon, Asuna, and Silica. Her other hobbies include drawing, reading comics, and playing video games. As to genre, she said she likes shooters and most anything that involve guns. She said she particularly enjoyed playing Final Fantasy 7.
Misa says that she looks up to Reika and Yaya Han as her cosplay inspirations and would love it if she got to do shoots with them in the future. She thinks that the cosplay community here in the Philippines is amazing and that there are a lot of cosplayers enjoying themselves at events. She says that she thinks that Filipino cosplayers make really good props, like weapons. She advises Filipinos to never give up on their passion and not be discouraged easily.
She apologized about her English not being enough, but we commend and admire her efforts to answer all our questions without the aid of an interpreter and that she had given us a lot of insights about Misa the cosplayer. After the many questions, we got to have a photoshoot with her, and Misa was at her best posing for our cameras.
After the press conference, Misa’s Meet and Greet session with her fans started. Her fans got the very rare chance to meet her up close. She got to chat with the, sign autographs, and take photos with them. For those attendees, it was truly an event they won’t soon forget.
Later in the afternoon, Misa got to make a special appearance on stage at the program of the Otakuzine Anime Magazine Launch Party to the delight of her fans. She addressed the audience and told everyone how wonderful they were and to just enjoy the event and always have fun. With that she was whisked away while she waved at the fans. We thank the organizers for the wonderful opportunity of getting to meet Misa and hope that she’s be back again soon.
