With several successful monthly pop-up cafe events last year, 2014 was a breakthrough year for Talking Apples, even being voted as Best Community event by the Golden Ticket Awards. And with each passing event, it just keeps getting better and better, with more innovative and more enjoyable experiences for everyone.
Being a series 0f once-a-month pop-up cafes, Talking Apples takes place at 121 Restaurant at the 2nd floor of 2284 Allegro Center, Pasong Tamo Extension in Makati. Opening its doors in the afternoon, Talking Apples welcomes guests seeking the experience of being served by eager and attentive maids and butlers in amazing costumes, just like what they had seen over and over in their favorite anime and manga. With different innovative themes each month, customers get to live out that fantasy here as maids and butlers tend to their every need, promising the most pleasant service.
In a pleasant little chat with part-owner Yuuko over some of their wonderful desserts, she says Talking Apples Butler and Meido Pop-up Cafes, like their stores and events, have been small steps to building their own theme cafe, which will be opening real soon this year. “We want to slow life down a bit to give people time to smile real smiles. Sometimes we do it with cupcakes.”
And smiles with cupcakes it is as they serve us their famed peanut butter and jelly cupcakes. Their other treats were as scrumptious too like their apple buns and cookies, best enjoyed with the wonderful tea they make and lovingly serve. They also keep on adding new treats to their menu by listening to what their customers want to have on the next pop-up, like their instant-classic omurice (omelette rice).
Guests are very much welcome and are encouraged to come in cosplay or Japanese fashion for an even more immersive and engaging experience. And most of them really do. They have the most fun of course interacting with the maids and butlers, who also also enjoy the time they serve by being in character.
