With a splendid team of maids and butlers in costume and in character serving delightfully tasty and unique food and drinks at an atmosphere that’s as accommodating as it is fun, Talking Apples Maid & Butler Cafe has been quite a hit in the cosplay and otaku community, with more and more people coming in to partake in their monthly pop-ups.
2014 was a breakthrough year for Talking Apples, with several successful monthly pop-up cafe events as well as being voted as Best Community event by the Golden Ticket Awards. As a series of once-a-month pop-up cafes, Talking Apples takes place at 121 Restaurant at the 2nd floor of 2284 Allegro Center, Pasong Tamo Extension in Makati. Opening its doors in the afternoon, Talking Apples welcomes guests seeking the experience of being served by eager and attentive maids and butlers in amazing costumes, just like what they had seen over and over in their favorite anime and manga.
Guests are very much welcome and are encouraged to come in cosplay or Japanese fashion for an even more immersive and engaging experience. And most of them really do. They have the most fun of course interacting with the maids and butlers, who also also enjoy the time they serve by being in character.
Far from being your normal maid cafe, Talking Apples Maid & Butler Cafe continues to innovate. With different exciting themes each month, guests get to live out that fantasy here as maids and butlers tend to their needs, promising the most unique service. Particularly delightful was their Bloody Valentines event where the maids and butlers went all out portraying their favorite characters from known scary and gory series.
With us with on our coverage of the event was our Cosplay Model and photographer Keileen, who went in a casual/school version of Ciel. She had this to say about her experience:
“I had fun at Talking Apples. The maids and butlers are awesome, the ambiance feels like an anime lover’s hangout. The omurice and cookies taste awesome. The area and booths and the store were so cool. Overall its awesome! Thumbs up! I’ll be sure to come again.”
We also asked Patrice, a cosplayer and photographer, about her experience:
“Talking Apples Pop up Cafe made me experience the bloodiest valentine special, for their maids and butlers be covered up with blood yet serving you great food! The place was quite crowded but everyone was really nice and escorts you to your seat. The meal was great especially the cupcakes at the end. Oh, those cupcakes. Makes me want to come back for more of their pop ups!
