Ozine Fest 2015 is the biggest Japanese pop culture event this summer, and it opens with much fanfare with Day 1 at Megatrade Halls 1-3 at the Fifth Floor of SM Megamall. Set to run 3 days from April 24-26, 2015, Ozine Fest will feature a great lineup of special international guests and with lots of fun activities guaranteed to make it a summer event to remember. arkadymac.com is an official media partner, so we are happy to bring you scenes from this much-anticipated event.
Our Cosplay Models and correspondents Yanna and Kyle were there to help us out with our coverage. They were really looking forward to doing their best to cover the event for arkadymac.com.
Highlighting Ozine 2015 Day 1 was the press conference and meet and greet sessions with amazing international guest cosplayers Ying Tze and Angie from Malaysia and Tuna from Korea. They were forthcoming and candid with their replies to the questions of the audience. There was a bit of a language barrier in the exchanges, but it was overcome with the eagerness of the guests to get their message across, as well as their shared love for anime, manga and games. Everyone got to be friendly and and was in a happy mood.
It was a fascinating experience for us, and we hope that Ying Tze, Angie, and Tuna will make more fans happy as they have their meet and greet sessions in the days to come. For our coverage of the Press Conference and more photos, you can find them here.
We then got to tour the venue where exhibitors, concessionaires and sponsor booths could be found offering a wide variety of merchandise and goodies that catered specifically to Japanese pop culture enthusiasts and avid collectors.
We also found the Artist Area where we saw talented groups and individuals showcasing their work to the public. They do commissions as well as demonstrations on how to draw manga. Independent artists presented their own artworks and merchandise to the public, and was one of the busiest sections at the venue. New and original works as well as pre-owned manga and artbooks were displayed and offered to the public.
There was also the Grafitti Wall where everyone can scribble and doodle and write whatever they wanted, and it got filled up in just a few hours time.
We also got to see the Matsuri Area adorned with nice lanterns and paper cranes, with small pools for balloons and goldfish scooping as well.
The Ozine Maid Cafe was where you can sit back, relax and enjoy meals and drinks served by our cute and pretty meidos, and it has become quite popular at every event, with long lines as proof of its charm and appeal to attendees.
Other interesting attractions were the Console Game Tournament area where skillful players battled it out for nice prizes. There was also a separate area for anime card games with tournament and demos for beginners and those who want to try and learn. There was also the Gundam Caravan area where free Gundam kits were given away to willing participants as well as a a gundam display exhibit of the best and the latest models.
The main stage was where the program was held as they featured entertaining events for the crowd like Battle of the Bands, a singing contest Jeopardy-type trivia games and special performances for guest bands. These attractions kept the event fun, interesting and exciting for everyone.
We got to see a lot of cosplayers at the event, and they were having fun with friends and having photos with the crowd and with each other, like our Cosplay Models Nicole and Nicolette.
We of course enjoyed doing short shoots with cosplayers, some familiar, some new, and we’d like to thank all of them for posing for us.
With these and more, Ozine Fest 2015 was off to a great start. More to come as we update this post later on as well as present our coverages of Day 2 and Day 3, all coming very soon. Credits to Yanna for the video of the Press Conference which will be posted soon, and to Kyle for taking some of the photos of the event for us.
