Student organization Tomo-Kai from UP Diliman gave Shingeki no Kyojin fans something to be happy about as they got to organize a special block screening of the Attack on Titan live action movie last weekend on its opening week.  There has been much excitement and anticipation for the film adaptation of the wildly popular Japanese manga and anime series Shingeki no Kyojin, and local fans got to celebrate as it finally got screened in Philippine theaters starting August 12.

A couple of hours before the movie began, UP Tomo-Kai had already prepared their spot and welcomed early guests outside Cinema 1 of Trinoma.  As the time of the screening by 7 pm got closer, more and more ticket holders started falling in line.  Tomo-Kai’s marshals were courteous and helpful and the situation at the lobby was orderly though one may notice that the fans were barely containing their excitement.

Outside the theater, there were displays featuring the Scouting Legion’s uniform including the 3DMG(ODMG) as well as a peek into the fascinating world where Attack on Titan takes place.

There was also the Colossal Titan cosplayer who was promoting the Filipino edition of the manga by Viva Psicom.  He was quite popular with the fans who were there as well as passers-by who found him infinitely fascinating.

By 7 in the evening the ticket holders were ushered into the cinema.  Inside were the Psicom booth where the Filipino edition of the Shingeki no Kyojin manga as well as a booth for anime-themed merchandise.  Guests were also given their complimentary snacks, drinks and freebies upon entry

As everyone was guided inside and settled to their seats, the organizers started a short program by thanking everyone who came, as well as acknowledging their partners who have helped them out with the preparation of the event.  There was a raffle where lucky ticket holders got to win nice prizes like copies of the Attack on Titan manga Filipino  edition.  It was followed by a memory game by sponsor Nissin where contestants got to take home bags of treats.

Everyone was then asked to settle down as the film was about to start.  Cheers were heard as the first glimpse of the movie were seen.  As the story progressed, fans got really into it; at times they gasped, screamed, and squealed over the many exciting scenes of Attack on Titan.  UP Tomo-Kai gave the chance of having an ever better viewing experience by presenting this special block screening as an opportunity to enjoy this epic movie with fellow fans who had the same mindset and feels from the original series.

After the screening, the lobby was abuzz with friends and groups being happy to be able to attend the event and watch the movie.  Most did not pass up the chance to have their photos with the many interesting displays at the lobby.   Once again, UP Tomo-Kai had done a great job in making good on their promise of delivering a fun and unique experience for everyone through their hard work and tremendous organizational effort.  We extend our congratulations for another job well done.
