Taiwan’s outstanding cosplayers Neneko and Sameki gave their ardent Filipino fans a weekend to remember and cherish as they featured in cosplay.ph’s Meet & Greet Madness. It was Sameki’s first visit to the country and Neneko her third, and they were warmly welcomed by their followers who have long been waiting for this rare opportunity to see them live and up close.

Cosplaying Hatsuse Izuna of No Game No Life, Neneko showed why she has become one of the world’s most admired cosplayers. She is praised online as Taiwan’s moe representative. She was chosen to represent Taiwan at “Asia’s No.1 Vocaloid Cosplay” tournament. Her fans are simply drawn to her seductive and kawaii disposition.
Simply elegant as Sonoda Umi of Love Live!, Sameki is famous for her wide range of cosplays, doing everything from kawaii to cool characters. She has been selected as part of the “Dream Project,” which is a photobook featuring Taiwan’s most prominent cosplayers.
Held at plush SMX Aura, SM Aura Premier, BGC, Taguig City, Meet & Greet Madness with Neneko and Sameki was fever pitch as fans have been waiting for the day to see the amazing duo for quite a while ever since it was announced. Fans have been admiring their brilliant cosplays and their work for a long time now. At Meeting Room 1 where the event was underway, fans had the great opportunity to get the duo’s official merchandise like Neneko’s Hestia photobook, as well as their postcards, prints and posters.
Two sessions were scheduled for the day, both of which were flocked by fans. They were briefed beforehand of what they can expect from the meet and greet as well as the guidelines that must be followed so that everyone can enjoy the event to the fullest without any problems. The first part saw Neneko and Sameki being called out to the stage, being given a warm welcome b the attendees, with the cosplayers greeting them in return. After introductions, the audience was given the opportunity to ask the guests questions about themselves. In their replies, everyone got to know a lot of interesting things about them, like how Neneko got started into cosplaying because their family owned a video store and got to watch lots of anime and got inspired to cosplay. Sameki said she started cosplaying when her friends got to invite her to an event.
Neneko said that when not cosplaying, she enjoys playing games on Playstation and other consoles. Sameki said that she catches up on her favorite anime shows like Love Live! When asked why she enjoys coming back to the Philippines, Neneko said that Filipinos are always warm and friendly. Asked if Samaeki will come back given the chance, she said that she definitely will as Filipinos have been nice to her. Our Keileen got to ask them what makes cosplay still exciting for them. Neneko said that she gets lots of excitement from cosplaying by getting opportunities to meet her fans from all over the world. Sameki said that the exciting part of cosplaying is getting to meet new people while having fun.
After the Question and Answer segment of the program, fans got the opportunity to have their souvenirs even more memorable with autographs from the guests.
After the signing, fans got to have their photos taken with the guests. Neneko and Sameki were gracious with their fans, having fun with them and tirelessly posing for everyone.
There was also a special photoshoot session with them, and it was with posing for the cameras that the duo were really in their element, having some fun with their fans as well.
As the session ended, it got hard to say goodbye. Neneko gave a long round of high fives with an extra big smile to her fans who went to the meet and greet to support them.
Neneko and Sameki were so nice and personable and they had such warm smiles for everyone. They were also really kind as to have us have a photo with them.
It was truly an exciting and memorable event as Neneko and Sameki graciously got to visit Manila for their fans. We hope that more people can get to appreciate their work and continue supporting them as they have been doing their best to present wonderful cosplays for everyone.
