Opening another fun year of events for the community was the first ever Manila Hobbies & Collectibles Convention last weekend at Megatrade Hall 3 of SM Megamall. The inaugural event showcased some of the best in collectibles, toys and comics from here and beyond, with fun attractions and side events adding to the fun and festive atmosphere of this two-day affair.
Manila Hobbies & Collectibles Convention 2016 was brought together by Hobbi@worx and PinoyToyKolektor, who have been staunch supporters of the many local hobby communities. arkadymac.com is a media partner for Manila Hobbies & Collectibles Convention 2016, and we had our Photographers and Correspondents Keileen, Jillian, and Mitch, with her sister Charlize, to bring you the highlights of the event.
The convention featured exhibitors of a wide range of interests, like toys, model kits, comics, collectibles as well as tons of booths selling related merchandise. Browsing through the many interesting things for display and for sale was a delight in itself, and one was welcome to geek out as much as they want upon the myriad of items found all over the venue.
All throughout the day there were games, contests, raffles and unique entertainment. Among these were the wildly popular live auction that attendees really got into to get the best deals.
One of the highlights of the event was the Cosplay Competition which featured cosplayers taking the stage and impressing the judges and audience alike with splendid performances.
In the end, Izaiah Luke Buelos as Toshiro Hitsugaya won Best Male while Kyle Hilliard Naron as Megatron won Best Chibi. They got to get home big cash prizes and gift items from the organizers and sponsors.
The first day of the Manila Hobbies & Collectibles Convention was a cozy and fun event for collectors, enthusiasts and the curious alike, but there’s still Day 2 of the event, our coverage of which can be found here.
