It was a huge and exciting weekend for the local gaming community as one of the biggest and longest-running eSport events in the Philippines touched down at Cyberzone SM North EDSA last May 6-8, 2014. Touted as the eSport Event Of The Summer, Pinoy Gaming Festival Summer Assembly 2016 was an extravaganza of the great games and hobbies and the groups, teams and communities that have grown around them.
Helping us cover the event was our public relations officer Kaloy, who is one of the most avid gamers on our coverage team. It was a shame that he didn’t quite make it to the Clash Royale Tournament, but he was there to help us show you the highlights of this action-filled event.
Organized by Gariath Concepts and presented by Globe Telecom, PGF has for years been at the forefront of Philippine gaming, bringing in newer and better games each year and bringing in the best teams to compete for prestige and the biggest prizes. This year in particular saw exciting tournaments for the most popular game titles around, like Dota 2, Hearthstone, Clash Royale, League of Legends, StarCraft II, EndGods, Vainglory, and LoveBeat.
Matches featuring the different game titles raged relentlessly for three straight days, with teams and individuals battling for pride, prestige and some of the biggest prizes to be offered this year, as well as with shoutcasters constantly calling out the action. The players’ intensity can only be matched by the tireless enthusiasm of the crowd cheering their favorite teams on.
Pinoy Gaming Festival Summer Assembly 2016 was free and open to the public, and the event drew in thousands of enthusiasts from all over who enjoyed trying out the different games and titles. The sponsors and exhibitors which included top brands like MSI Philippines Notebook, Razer, PowerColor Philippines, The Net.com, Cyberzone, Globe Telecom and Monster Energy, also had attractions that attendees got to enjoy over the three-day spectacle.
All in all, Pinoy Gaming Festival Summer Assembly 2016 was a great weekend for gaming and for the many communities that continue to support and love games, and we commend PGF for bringing the excitement that games bring closer to the people who truly appreciate them.
