The biggest and most celebrated event of the year for anime fans, Japanese music lovers, and cosplay enthusiasts is here!! Animax Carnival Philippines 2016, Animax channel’s on-ground signature event, opened its doors to the excited public Saturday, October 15-16, 2016 at Halls 1 and 2 of the SMX Convention Center. Already on its fifth year, Animax Carnival Philippines 2016 has promised to be bigger and better than ever, offering a variety of interactive games and fun-filled activities with exciting prizes for all ages.
arkadymac.com is Animax Carnival’s media partner again this year, and we will be bringing you the highlights through our special coverage of both days. Covering the event were our photographer Kami, cosplay model Keileen and Vanessa, and creative director Rin in her first assignment in her new position.
Even as early as 8 am, there was already a huge line of congoers waiting outside the SMX convention center. The halls opened and quickly filled up.
At the Edo Japan Spring Hall, there was the Hanami Food Hall were con-goers could have traditional Japanese cuisine.
The Traditional Games Kiosk had old Japanese festival games such as fuku warai, tosenkyo, koma, and hanetsuki.
There was also a yukata wearing booth by the Japanese Embassy and a Samurai armor wearing booth by Geisha’s Blade where congoers can have a feel of how is it like to live in Old Japan.
At the Animax City Summer Hall, they held a Silent screening where congoers could watch a certain anime episode. The Anime pavilion show cased all of the amazing anime Animax has to offer such as One Punch Man, Twin Star Exorcist, Snow White and the Red Hair, Gatchaman Crowds Insight, My Love STORY!!, and Hello !!KINMOZA!. Con-goers sang their heart out in the Ookun karaoke booths and posted their creative Ookun fan art at the Creative corner. To complete the Japanese City feel, an exclusive maid cafe was set up where butlers and maids served and chatted up customers.
In the Animax City Autumn hall, congoers could buy cute Ookun merchandise at Ookun Merch Shop.
Stage games like Yoshinoya Eating contest and MoguMogu Dance challenge were held.
Cosplay workshops for makeup, swords, bows, and fight choreography were held to help cosplay newbies in achieving their dream cosplans.
The Entertainment Winter hall is where all of action happened with hosts Rhianna Floresca and Glaiza De Castro. Exclusive interviews with special guests Elisa and Yanaginagi were held. They also held an autograph signing so they could meet and take pictures with their fans.
Of course, the Animax Cosplay Competition was held, where the top 5 cosplayers from a series of prejudging rounds got to perform their best skit for huge prizes. A formidable panel of judges which include prominent cosplayer Jin Joson got to name seasoned cosplayer and crafter Abraham Cruz as Champion for his amusing and action filled performance as both Boros and Saitama of One Punch Man, winning the grand prize of 15000 pesos plus goodies from Sony and Animax. Lyron Aquino was named first runner up for his performance as Genos, also from One Punch Man, and got to take home great prizes as well.
To end the night, Elisa and Yanaginagi sang their heart outs and energized the crowd with their amazing voices that have made them renowned artists all over the world . Attendees danced and sang along as these guests gave powerful and memorable performances, and they got to address their Filipino fans.
