Historic University of Santo Tomas became the scenic setting for UST Photoshoot for a Cause: Larawan Tulong sa Pamarawan, as cosplayers, photographers, and enthusiasts show that they are always eager to lend a helping hand. A good number of them got to take part in the event, and more importantly, got to give back to the broader community they belong to. arkadymac.com is the official media partner of the event and we are happy to being you the highlights from last weekend.
Organized by one of the university’s students and avid cosplay enthusiast, KC Caravana, with the supervision of Mr. John Christian Valeroso, with help from 4SSM, 3SSM, and Thomasian Nihon Kyoukai, UST Photoshoot for a Cause: Larawan Tulong sa Pamarawan was an event aimed towards collecting enough donations of school supplies and books that would benefit the children of Pamarawan in Malolos, Bulacan. Within it is a secluded community bereft of many things taken for granted at schools, where students have never even seen pictures of the Philippine Presidents.
This unique experience got to involve cosplay and photography as a means to raise funds for a worthy cause in an impoverished community. Instead of monetary payment as an entrance fee to the event, participants were asked to bring books, notebooks, pencils and other school supplies for distribution to the less-fortunate schoolchildren of Pamarawan, and those who came heeded the call and did not hesitate to give whatever they could for this endeavor.
A lot of cosplayers and photographers were on hand to take part in the occasion, where cosplayers were paired with photographers as they took turns for individual and group photoshoots in the many interesting and fascinating locations inside University of Sto Tomas. Although the heat and humidity at times can be a little too much for anyone to bear, the cosplayers and photographers still persevered in making sure they have the best poses for the best photographs possible.
We got to meet many wonderful cosplayers who took part and cosplayed and posed for cameras despite the heat. They said that they were happy to help out for a good cause, and they also got to enjoyed cosplay with others as well. We took the opportunity to shoot them as well, of course.
At day’s end, all the participants have had their fill and more of photographs and stories to share about the event. What’s more of course are lots of school supplies and other donations for the children of Pamarawan. The organizers have always fostered the idea that cosplayers can have fun while helping others, and this was very evident from the enjoyment the participants had from joining.
We at arkadymac.com thank KC and Mr. John Christian Valeroso, as well as 4SSM, 3SSM, and Thomasian Nihon Kyoukai, for a job well done in organizing this photoshoot and giving cosplayers the chance to make a difference in someone else’s life through this charity event. We and many others look forward to attending and covering more such events in the future.
