Having the perfect location for your cosplay shoot has been a challenge for the longest time. For more than a decade that cosplay has been enjoyed in the country, cosplayers and photographers had countless stories of their struggles of having the right place to have their dream shot. It is then such good fortune that District 1 Cosplay Studio has came into the scene and has made many a cosplay dream come true.
Starting out in 2021, District 1 Cosplay Studio is the first cosplay themed photography studio designed for cosplayers in the Philippines. Taking careful consideration of the needs and wishes of the cosplay community that they have become a part of, the studio brought to life some incredible themes that have become the desire of cosplayers from all over.
One of their most sought-after themes is the Victorian Library, which evokes the feel of times long past. Classical but no less stylish, this set has just the right lighting for just the right mood for that historical, fantasy or romantic atmosphere you’re looking for. With rows upon rows of books and tomes and imposing hardwood table, your shots will be nothing short of elegant.
The Japanese Classroom theme has been such a big hit with cosplayers since it was opened, and why not? School girls and school boys have saved the universe countless times and are have starred in hundreds upon hundreds of anime and manga. From Sailor Moon to My Dress-Up Darling, you can the be the hero and heroine of your own school life rom-com or romance caught for posterity on camera. The authentic chairs and tables and classic blackboard provide a great touch that makes your shot all the more memorable.
Classy and mature concepts go well with the bar theme. From Cowboy Bebop to Paripi Koumei, the bar is more than a watering hole, its rife with character, mystique, intrigue and indulgence. Your more mature characters will get a kick from the warm lighting, the back-lit, bottle-decked wall to the chic bar stools and stylish glasses for a scene that will be nothing short of memorable.
Sci-fi and gaming have made a huge mark on anime and cosplay, which is why the Cyber Theme has its huge share of fans. From a dystopian world to a gamer’s haven, the customizable screens and the striking neon lights, many a futuristic concept shoot has been made here, and continues to draw more fans by the day.
Aside from these formidable mainstay of themes, District 1 also offers different seasonal themes, as District 1’s owner and manager, the outstanding cosplayer Katiecakey, tells us. The studio is imagined and built based on the passion and needs of a cosplayer. She says that shooting at District 1 not only aids in producing quality output, but also precious memories for years to come.
And what does the future hold for District 1? We got to ask Katicakey herself on their plans.
Besides the main studio, District 1 also had a pop-up studio at Cosplay Carnival back in May 2022, and was a big hit with attendees. They have also lined up more pop-ups at future events.
Their venue is not their only strong point. The staff at District 1 are very helpful and friendly and very knowledgeable on how to assist the cosplayers and photographers with the special effects and lighting that help towards better shots. Not one to rest on their accomplishments, District 1 continues to evolves so that they can continue to deliver a venue and an experience that cosplayers and photographers will love, remember and treasure.
