The event marks the return of the multi-day celebration highlighting Filipino and Japanese cultures.
The UP Philippines-Japan Friendship Club, popularly known as UP Tomo-Kai, is excited to announce the celebration of its 34th anniversary. Themed “Modorimichi: Pista sa Kalye,” this year’s festivities symbolize a vibrant return to tradition, celebrating the rich cultures of the Philippines and Japan.
The anniversary event, set to take place on May 31, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, will be held at the open space between Vinzon’s Hall and the Student Union Building (SUB) at UP Diliman. The event promises a dynamic showcase of Filipino and Japanese cultural presentations, activity booths, and performances.
In addition to the main events, “Gunita: Photo Poetry and TK History Exhibit” at the Palma Hall Lobby on May 22 will display photos and poetry reflecting street life, along with UP Tomo-Kai’s journey over the past 34 years. Leading up to the main event from May 28-30, there will also be Japanese and Filipino movie nights and a Tambay & Game Night for students to unwind.
The event is free admission and open to all. Follow UP Tomo-Kai’s Facebook/Instagram page for more information on the RSVP for signup and giveaways!
