“Rayearth is more than a title in our catalog. It’s a memory a whole generation of Filipinos shares,” said from Ani-One Philippines. “Bringing it back where fans can watch it anytime, on any screen, is our way of saying thank you to the people who grew up with anime on Philippine TV.”
A Classic That Shaped a Generation
Created by the legendary manga collective CLAMP and animated by TMS Entertainment, Magic Knight Rayearth first aired in Japan in 1994. It follows three schoolgirls; Hikaru, Umi and Fuu — who are pulled from Tokyo Tower into the magical world of Cephiro. Summoned to save Princess Emeraude, they must become the
legendary Magic Knights and awaken the mighty Rune-Gods. For many Filipino viewers, Rayearth was appointment television. Its blend of magic, friendship, giant-robot battles and an unforgettable twist made it one of the most remembered anime of the 90s. Today those kids are adults, and many are now sharing the series with their own children.
The Missing Piece: Rayearth in Tagalog
For the fans, one thing would make the nostalgia come full circle: hearing Hikaru, Umi and Fuu speak Tagalog again. Many Filipinos first met the Magic Knights in their own language, and those voices are part of what makes the series feel like home.
Ani-One Philippines hears that call. Fans who want to see a Tagalog-dubbed Rayearth are encouraged to make their voices heard; comment on the Episode 1 video, share it with fellow fans and follow Ani-One Philippines on social media. The louder the Magic Knights’ fandom gets, the closer Cephiro comes to speaking Filipino once more.
