Setting a record last year for being the biggest nationwide series of cosplay competitions ever with 12 legs all over the country and giving away more than 20,000 pesos in cash each leg, Cosplay Craze comes back even bigger and better than before, with even bigger cash prizes and more attractions in store for everyone. Just imagine, at every event, the cosplayer in 3rd Place receiving P8,000 cash, 2nd Place winning P15,000 cash and the grand prize winner taking home a staggering P30,000 cash and securing a slot in the Cosplay Mania Cup 2017, may just give you an idea how huge Cosplay Craze 2.0 will be.
This great and big news was announced on-stage with Patrick Pacla, the Assistant Vice-President for Marketing at SM Cyberzone, and Pablo Bairan, the President of Cosplay.ph, at the just concluded Cosplay Carnival 2017. The highly-successful Cosplay Craze that started last year will be returning with Cosplay Craze 2.0. In addition, this nation-wide tour would be partnered with technology giants Canon, HP and Lennovo in addition to being co-organized by SM Cyberzone and Cosplay.ph.
Prizes were also revealed to have had a tremendous upgrade with 3rd Place receiving P8,000 cash, 2nd Place winning P15,000 cash and the grand prize winner taking home a staggering P30,000 cash and securing a slot in the Cosplay Mania Cup 2017 where even bigger prizes are at stake.
There will be 12 legs this year including, SM North Edsa on April 8, SM BF Parañaque on April 29, SM Seaside, Cebu on May 13, SM Cabanatuan on May 27, SM General Santos on June 10, SM San Jose Del Monte on June 24, SM Bacolod on July 8, SM San Pablo on July 22, SM Megacenter Cabanatuan on August 5, SM Naga on August 19, SM City Molino on September 2 and finally SM Baguio on September 16.
A big kick-off event that pulls out all the stops will be held two weeks after Cosplay Carnival on April 8, 2017 at SM North EDSA where a brand new cosplay competition called Ultimate Cosplay Championships (UCC) will be launched. Unlike other cosplay contests, UCC will focus on teamwork and creativity and is a hybrid of the traditional group cosplay contest and the popular talent competitions. Groups are encouraged to addition at Cosplay Craze legs where they are judged to see if they are worthy to perform at Cosplay Mania 2017. Teams that pass the audition will win the right to compete with other teams at Cosplay Mania. Only the best teams and performances will be accepted, however, and the focus will be on how entertaining and mind-blowing the performances are on stage. The winners at Cosplay Mania 2017 will also take home a record-breaking P150,000 CASH in the biggest cash prize for a group cosplay competition in the Philippines.
With all these additions and upgrades, Cosplay Craze 2.0 is set to shatter the attendance records they set last year. Cosplay Craze is also turning into a roving mini-convention that will attract the best of the best from around the country to show their all. Best of all, Cosplay Craze is completely free with no registration fees or entrance fees to speak of. It also sets the stage for the biggest Cosplay Mania ever on September 30-October 1, 2017!
