Mina Kim: Adventures
After her radio talk show appearance at Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 and just before her special guest appearance at Otacon with the arkadymac.com team, Mina went with us on a short detour for a quick shoot at a place she had never been before somewhere south of the Metro. Earnestly curious and inquisitive, she took time off exploring this unique Japanese enclave hidden in the heart of the city. In between snaps she tells us how her life has been one fun and exciting journey since she began cosplaying, with warm and fond memories she’ll keep for lifetime.

Otakuzine Launch Party, Part 3: Cosplayers
arkadymac.com was an official media partner for the Otakuzine Anime Magazine Launch Party last November 30, 2014 at the Mall of Asia SMX Function Room 1. Hundreds of people got to attend the event that promised lots of fun for everyone, with long lines since opening. Lots of fun activities for everyone to enjoy were lined up for the day, with games, cosplay, karaoke, booths, game and card tournaments, and other attractions that will make everyone’s otaku experience a memorable one.
Highlighting the Otakuzine Anime Magazine Launch Party was special guest cosplayer Misa from Taiwan. She is known all over the world for her spectacular cosplays, and she got to visit the Philippines for the second time for a special appearance. There was a press conference for her at Meeting Room 2 of the SMX with members of the local Otaku media, who were eager to as Misa lots of questions. She was then cosplaying Silica, a character from the manga and anime Sword Art Online. For more info and photos of her at the press conference, click here.
The Otakuzine Anime Magazine Launch Party was particularly enjoyable for us because we got to see and meet some of our Cosplay Models again. arkadymac.com’s Cosplay Models are the wonderful cosplayers who we have featured on our website, and we are happy to get to call each other friends as well. For more photos of our Cosplay Models at the Otakuzine Anime Magazine Launch Party, click here.
Events are fun because these present the rare occasion when we get to see our cosplayer friends again and catch up on what’s been going on with each other. I’m sure any cosplayer can relate, and that’s why we get to enjoy ourselves as much as we can: chatting, posing for others, posing with others, selfies with each other, spazzing over each other’s characters, role playing, the small, strange, simple things that make us happy and glad we got to meet each other through cosplay. Happily, there were a lot of them that weekend. And we sure enjoyed taking photos of them,

We saw our Cosplay Model Mina Kim helping promote our friends at the Perry in Disguise booth. She was quite popular and people lined up for the chance to have their photos taken with her.
Our friend Sean wanted to be first of course, though he pretended not to be that excited.
Our coverage partner Jillian was there for a while to help us out with the reporting. We’re always glad that she can attend events with us and do the rounds and still have fun.
Our Cosplay Model Kyle was there as Touka Rabbit version from Tokyo Ghoul. She was quite popular with photographers and attendees alike. We’ll be having another feature on her soon, so we hope you’ll watch out for it.
Our Cosplay Model Nicolette was also there having fun and enjoying having her photos taken by the crowd.
We spotted Gaby too. She was enjoying the event with friends.
Czyrah has been one of our very first Cosplay Models, and we were glad to see her there as a photographer. We are hoping that we’ll get to do a collaboration with her really soon.

Otakuzine Launch Party, Part 1: Misa Press Conference and Ingress
arkadymac.com was an official media partner for the Otakuzine Anime Magazine Launch Party last November 30, 2014 at the Mall of Asia SMX Function Room 1. Hundreds of people got to attend the event that promised lots of fun for everyone, with long lines since opening.
She told us that she was happy to be back in the Philippines and was enjoying her stay here. She said cosplaying has become an important part of her life. She said that her parents were first against it but they eventually softened up as they saw the positive changes that cosplay had brought her, that she had become more personable and more outgoing since she started. Later on her parents softened up enough to let her enjoy cosplaying, and now they’re happy that she gets to travel the world as a prominent cosplayer.
Misa said she loves Sword Art Online, and has cosplayed several characters from it, like Sinon, Asuna, and Silica. Her other hobbies include drawing, reading comics, and playing video games. As to genre, she said she likes shooters and most anything that involve guns. She said she particularly enjoyed playing Final Fantasy 7.
Misa says that she looks up to Reika and Yaya Han as her cosplay inspirations and would love it if she got to do shoots with them in the future. She thinks that the cosplay community here in the Philippines is amazing and that there are a lot of cosplayers enjoying themselves at events. She says that she thinks that Filipino cosplayers make really good props, like weapons. She advises Filipinos to never give up on their passion and not be discouraged easily.
She apologized about her English not being enough, but we commend and admire her efforts to answer all our questions without the aid of an interpreter and that she had given us a lot of insights about Misa the cosplayer. After the many questions, we got to have a photoshoot with her, and Misa was at her best posing for our cameras.
After the press conference, Misa’s Meet and Greet session with her fans started. Her fans got the very rare chance to meet her up close. She got to chat with the, sign autographs, and take photos with them. For those attendees, it was truly an event they won’t soon forget.
Later in the afternoon, Misa got to make a special appearance on stage at the program of the Otakuzine Anime Magazine Launch Party to the delight of her fans. She addressed the audience and told everyone how wonderful they were and to just enjoy the event and always have fun. With that she was whisked away while she waved at the fans. We thank the organizers for the wonderful opportunity of getting to meet Misa and hope that she’s be back again soon.
Before the press conference for Otakuzine Anime Magazine Launch Party we got to see the ingress. Booths were set up and everyone was frantic in preparing for opening that morning. Lots of fun activities for everyone to enjoy were planned for the day, with games, cosplay, karaoke, booths, game and card tournaments, and other attractions that will make everyone’s otaku experience a memorable one.
We got to see our friends from Cosmic Bytes Cosplay Shop and saw their new merchandise. Cosmic Bytes always offers new cosplay goods and other items, so make sure to always drop by their booth at events or on their website, www.cosmicbytes.com.
We also saw our friends from Perry in Disguise. They make really great hoodies and jackets, and get to release new designs almost at every event, like their Arno Dorian inspired hoodie. So do visit their booth at events, or visit their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/clothing.PID.
We also got to see delightful toys and items that will make any collector or just the curious happy.
We also got to spot Kimochi Hobby Shop with its interesting collection of Japanese/anime-themed items, anime sleeves, gundams and boxes https://www.facebook.com/Kimochi.Hobby.Shop,
