Oh. An online gaming event. Great.
Even though I am not really into online gaming nowadays, I still decided at the last moment to cover this event by Level Up! Philippines because it had a cosplay competition in it. It was a REALLY Slow Sunday, so I actually had the time to go all the way to Pasay City to the World Trade Center along Roxas Boulevard to attend, lugging along my relatively light but still bulky ANBU costume. It was a two-day event from November 3-4, 2012, but I just had enough willpower points to attend one, a half-day at that. To get in, you need to present an unused Level Up! card worth at least 50 pesos, a card you can use in-game, so if you’re a gamer it’s really a bargain. If not a gamer, well, 50 bucks is still well worth the price of admission, which I can hopefully explain in detail later.
Inside the premises are lots of side events and activities for everyone, gamers and non-gamers alike. There are sponsor booths where you can line up for great freebies like bags, posters, samples, noodles, game installers and more. There are tons of booths where they sell anything remotely related to gaming, anime, toys, collectibles, cosplay accessories and more.

There were a lot of things going on throughout the span of the event. The main attraction was the tournament of champions for the different Level Up! games. Teams fight their way in grueling team battles, and the winning group will represent the country in an all-out-battle in North Korea sometime next year using real weapons. Well, I think that’s how it goes. I’m not really sure. I wasn’t really paying attention to that part.

I would love to have seen the Miss Level Up Live 2012 but it was held on the first day. From what I can understand, it was a beauty contest with girls in game-themed costumes and were judged based on beauty, charm, and passion/game ethics. Well, good luck with that.

There was a cosplay competition too, but as to be expected, official contestants can only cosplay characters from Level Up! games. Where’s my poring costume when I need it?

Oh, Kamikazee went on to do almost an hour-long performance playing their best as well as latest hits. A great, head-banging and ear-bursting performance I might add. That alone was well worth the 50 peso entrance fee.
All in all a fun and exciting event which defied all my (low) expectations. I would call the Level Up! Live:Domination 2012 Event a great success, with well over a thousand attendees during the two-day affair. I actually had fun.
Cosplay Coverage
Well, since I vowed to cover as many cosplay events this year as possible, I grudgingly went to see how my fellow cosplayers fared during the event. Most were characters from Level Up! games as expected. There were some who did fabulous work. And then there are those who don’t really care for the theme of the event and come in in their usual costumes. Oh, that’s me! Ahahahaha. Well, I apologize for the quality of the pictures. Don’t worry. One of these days my blog will actually earn money and I can get a better camera. Hopefully real soon. Donations are welcome by the way. Even a 24-shot roll of film can go a long way. Well, probably not.

Naruto Cosplayers Unite
Well, even though technically an event for Level Up! games and gamers, these folks just want to have some airtime/photo time too. Oh, and that includes me by the way. Someone please donate a better camera!

Well, that’s it for this event. Drop by next time for my next cosplay coverage. Better yet, cosplay with me there.
