The arkadymac.com team was there to cover Cosmic Con 2014, the newest otaku and hobbyist event south of the Metro. Despite it being a recent creation, it has become a successful event as proven by the hundreds of people who came, who witnessed, and who participated in this spectacle. Also, arkadymac.com is proud to be an official media partner for this event, and we are of course happy to be part of a whole new convention that celebrates the things we love and hold dear.
Held last May 10 and 11 at the 2nd Floor Carousel Atrium of Festival Supermall Alabang, Cosmic Con 2014 was a delight to the senses with lots of attractions and features going on at any given time. The organizers, icozplayph, have described Cosmic Con is an event highlighting the appreciation for various arts in related to comics, toys, anime, cosplay, TV and movie fandom. This was seen in the variety of booths, games, displays, attractions and activities throughout the affair.
Day 1 of the event featured the Pet Cosplay and Cosmic Chibi Cosplay competitions, as well as the Toy and Cosplay Photography contests. Day 2 saw the Pet and Handler Cosplay, the Adult Cosplay Individual Open Category, and the Group Battle Royale. All of these were successful, having lots of participants for each attraction. There was also the special performance by Raindrop, a Meet and Greet Special Appearance with the group from Power Rangers Cosplay, a special appearance and panel discussion with The Philippine X-Men Team, the NCPH Otakus Choice Awards and the Cosmic Legend Awarding Ceremony.
Our Public Relations Officer Kaloy took the challenge of travelling from north to south just to cover this event as Subzero, the cryomancer ninja from the Mortal Kombat series. He admits that it was the farthest event he had attended. He got to meet Carlo Pablo who headed the operation, as well as David D’angelo of NCPH. Kaloy spent time mingling with the organizers and the many cosplayers in attendance.
Kaloy recounts his colorful experience at Cosmic Con 2014: ” Not only cosplayers who were in the list of attendees, but also a certain celebrity named Richard Yap who roled as “sir chief” in the teleserye “Please be careful of my heart”. and as expected, I was given the opportunity to take a selfie with him.. and oh my….all the girls were so envy, even my girlfriend doll, who was also at the event.” *Please be careful with my heart* ” At the end of the day, we were still so very delighted having again a small gathering together with our cosplay friends. We also got the chance to meet new friends as well. This is what cosplay is all about; friendship, camaraderie, teamwork, commitment, and respect. We hope to see you again at the future upcoming events. ”
We would like to extend our congratulations to icozplayph for a job well done, for bringing a fun, exciting and organized event come to life. We are proud to have been a media partner and a part of your event. We look forward to your promise of Cosmic Con 2015.
