We had the most pleasant afternoon being at the Talking Apples Vegan Butler- Meido Pop-up Cafe in Makati last weekend. Being served tea and tasty treats by their exceptional maids and butlers while in complete character was an experience we will always remember, and arkadymac.com was just thrilled to be a media partner and take part in this adorably unique affair.
The latest in their series 0f once-a-month pop-up cafes, Talking Apples took place at 121 Restaurant at the 2nd floor of 2284 Allegro Center, Pasong Tamo Extension in Makati. Opening its doors in the afternoon, Talking Apples welcomes guests seeking the experience of being served by eager maids and butlers, just like what they had seen over and over in their favorite animes, movies and manga. They get to live out that fantasy here as eager maids and butlers are at their most attentive, tending to their every need as this Victorian-themed Meido and Butler Cafe promises the best service. Guests are very much welcome to come in cosplay for an even more immerse and engaging experience.
In a dainty little chat with part-owner Yuko, wonderfully in character as Yuuko Ichihara of xxxHOLiC, she says Talking Apples Butler and Meido Pop-up Cafe, like their stores and events, are their small steps to making their own theme cafe. “We want to slow life down a bit to give people time to smile real smiles. Sometimes we do it with cupcakes.” And smiles with cupcakes it is as they served us their famed peanut butter and jelly cupcakes. They were so heavenly. Their other treats were as scrumptious too like their apple buns and cookies, best enjoyed with the wonderful tea they make and lovingly serve.
Besides the fantastic maids and butlers they already have in service, that particular weekend they debuted the Kuroshitsuji Live Action Movie set, which includes unlimited hot tea, 2 chocolate cupcakes, which are only available with the Kuroshitsuji set, and the chance to play chess with Ciel, and if victorious, get to take pictures with the Ciel and the Kuroshitsuji team. Besides doing their roles as butlers and maids for the cafe, each was in character, and are given the character to live out their roles within the confines of the cafe for a more authentic (and entertaining) experience.
It was busy afternoon as guests kept pouring in by the hour, but the maids and butlers were doing a good job seeing to it that every one of them feel welcome and right at home. Guests included Justine Chantelle of Dorotee Sweetlips with her family and friends fresh from the fashion show at Kawaii in Manila 2.
Our Coverage Partner Jillian was there as one of the maids. She tells us she was so happy to be able to live out one of her dreams,and that despite being a challenge, being a maid for that day was an overwhelming experience for her.
Our friend Pastel Aika was also there to enjoy the affair, she herself having served as a meido at other events.

Our Cosplay Model Ai Chi was there to help us with the coverage, and here is what she had to share about her experience. “Upon my entrance at the Talking Apples Vegan Butler- Meido Pop-up Cafe, I was welcomed with warm smiles from a wide array of maids and butlers. One of them guided us to our table where we were greeted by the manager, Raine. She was beautiful and was definitely in character, as was our server and host, Tamaki, who never failed to take care of us and was attentive throughout our stay. Maids and butlers at the other tables were as mindful and attentive to the other guests at the cafe.”
“They had an exciting promo with which you can have tea with Ciel and get to play a challenging chess match. I wasn’t able to avail of the promo that time but it just makes me want to have it all the more on my next visit. It was all a great experience. I really had fun!”
