The fun continues at Otaku Expo 2015, and arkadymac.com is happy to bring you our coverage of Day 2 as a media partner. As with their other events like Ozine Fest, Otaku Expo strives to be the venue where fans of Japanese pop culture, anime, manga, and cosplay and other enthusiasts can gather to share their hobbies and interests with others. Attendees were treated to a great new year opener with lots of attractions and booths inside the venue.
Otaku Expo featured the Battle of the Bands contest where talented new musicians battled it out performing covers of well-loved songs from anime. Special guest performances also livened up the day and sent Hall 3 rocking.
There was also a Karaoke Contest for people who preferred to sing covers.
The Donut Eating Contest didn’t last long, as the contestants seemed like pros.
Members of Team MARCH, a group of experienced and decorated cosplayers, had a lecture on the basics of makeup (aka makeup 101). They also entertained questions (even off topic ones) from the audience.
The Cosplay Competition started after the lecture with more than 20 participants. Hosts commented that it was turning into “Naruto’s Got Talent” as some contestants incorporated dancing in their skit.
DOTA based Cosplayers captured the top spots.
3rd Place: Raezor Enriquez – Razor / Dota2
2nd Place: Lorraine Kenn Pullido – Drow Ranger/ Dota 2
1st Place: Gerlind Raspodo – Lina Inverse / Dota 2
Due to the huge number of attendees who come to enjoy and support the event, the organizers of Otaku Expo were gracious in opening Megatrade Hall 2 to the public, which was of course well appreciated by everyone. Later in the day, they also opened Hall 1 as well.
