Some dedicated Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X) fans and cosplayers got to organize a fun group shoot a while back at the Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center in Quezon City. Calling it “Anime Meets Live,” this group of cosplayers got to show their love and appreciation of the Rurouni Kenshin franchise by portraying characters from both the original anime series as well as characters from the more recent live action movies. The result was an enjoyable afternoon with feels and fun in abundance, and we at arkadymac.com were there to share and document the moment with them.
Every so often, small cosplay groups take it upon themselves to organize simple photoshoots at familiar places. Besides cosplay events and conventions, photoshoots like this one present opportunities for some bonding time among friends and chances to meet new ones. The group had met and have had shoots before, but they said that organizing one and scheduling has always been a challenge, so they were just glad to be able to be able to push through that day with most of the members available.
Although cosplay is about one’s desire to portray a character they admire, cosplay can be more fun if you get to complete the cast, which is why cosplay groups are particularly fun and rewarding to those who go the extra measure to reach out to others with the same passion.
Despite the searing summer sun and next-to-unbearable heat, the cosplayers still went through the shoot in their elaborate and finely crafted costumes so that they can have the photographers take the best shots of them.
Other people may find it strange but cosplayers and cosplay photographers know that it’s really a great feeling being able to just do what your heart wants and cosplay and take photos to your heart’s content.
Having a group with you of characters from the same manga, novel, series or movie makes it easier to recreate memorable scenes.
Or just have fun making up new ones.
Shoots need not all be serious. There was always time for selfies, groupies, teasing, photobombing, and friendly horseplay among everyone involved. After all, cosplaying is about having fun and being around people with the same hobby, and the members of the group have that at heart.
As the sun set, the last desperate shots were taken and the group finally retreated to their camp and dressed down. It had been an exhausting day, but one they really thought was fun and worth it, with memories and stories that would last for a long time to come.
We’d like to thank the members of the Rurouni Kenshin Cosgroup for inviting us and sharing a great time with us. They’re planning on several more photoshoots in the future, so we hope you can support them in their other projects as well.
Thank you for dropping by, and do visit us again for more cosplay features here at arkadymac.com.
