Cosplayers have always looked to superheroes for inspiration. More than just their fabulous, colorful and flashy costumes, superheroes exude the many admirable qualities and aspirations of humanity, things that cosplayers also emulate when they portray their favorite heroes. But this time, cosplayers and artists won’t be the one doing the imitating, they will be the ones creating their very own superheroes as DV Tech Media Corp., along with their partners, present Project X, the search for new Pinoy superheroes with an astounding 150,000 php top prize.
This year DV Tech Media Corp., in partnership with ComicCon Asia 2018, launches a search that challenges people to figure out their own recipe for the next generation Pinoy superhero – and bring it to life thru the power of imaginative storytelling.
Project X: The Search for the New Pinoy Superheroes aims to give local artists a platform to create the next generation of original Filipino superheroes who represent local culture and values. In doing so, the search doubles as an avenue for recognizing world-class talent that could potentially rival our overseas counterparts.
With as much as PhP150,000.00 in cash at stake for the winning entry, Project X really puts a premium on the local creator landscape’s ability to come up with original concepts, with emphasis on character distinction, thematic storytelling, and clear and impactful visual execution.
“We believe that Filipinos have the talent to become Creators. More than what the Pinoy Superhero wears or the powers he or she has, what we’re after is an entry with a well thought off character and story. The search is about finding the next generation of Pinoy superheroes – original character ideas that stand for our unique Filipino values and culture, with a moving story that can gain both local and global fan interest,” shares Richard Estuesta, President, DV Tech Media Corp.
So get to your drawing boards and start brainstorming for the next great Filipino defender, guardian, or savior, someone who can inspire people to overcame challenges and restore their faith in humanity.
The mechanics are easy. You can join as your own or form a creative team with your friends and have one representative register online at www.pinoysuperheroes.com. After agreeing to the contest terms and conditions, submit the entry form along with: a two (2)-page treatment with a story arc and synopsis of the original Pinoy superhero character/s; a two to three-minute video trailer showcasing the character/s and a sample of an action sequence; and an illustration of the design concept for the superhero/es’ costume/s.
Last day of submission is on March 14, 2018 (Wednesday) not later than 6:00 PM (Philippine Time). Ten (10) participants will then be shortlisted by a group of panelists from the media and comics industry and notified one (1) day after the end of the shortlisting, which happens from March 15 to 17. These finalists will also be announced online at the official ComicCon Asia 2018 and Project X websites and Facebook accounts.
The final judging will be held on March 25, 2018 (Sunday) at ComicCon Asia 2018 located at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City from 10:00 AM onwards.
