Fans of the written and printed word all over the Philippines got to rejoice as they thronged to the long-awaited live return of the Philippine’s largest and longest running book fair, Manila International Book Fair 2022. Long-time fans, readers and exhibitors again gathered to connect and celebrate their love of books. Taking place four whole glorious days spanning September 15-18, 2022 at the SMX Convention Center Manila, Manila International Book Fair 2022, organized by Primetrade Asia, Inc., fulfilled its promise to be one of the best and biggest ever with lots of activities and attractions in store for everyone.

arkadymac.com is proud to be a media partner for MIBF 2022, and helping us cover this event was our Correspondent Sabthulhu, who was an avid booklover herself and relished the thought of being surrounded with newly printed books

In its illustrious and storied history more than 40 years in the making, MIBF has continually become the vanguard of the Filipino’s love of books as it has presented and delivered the most numerous and most diverse collection of literary works, books, magazines, comics, educational aids, and allied materials. Book lovers continue to flock to the event in droves, reaching 160,000 at its last live event in 2019. After all, MIBF is not only for bookworms and writers, but it is also there for hobbyists, enthusiasts, artists, and much more. MIBF 2022 got to feature over 50 fascinating events that attendees got to experience and appreciate, showcasing events about the business side of publishing and bookmaking, as well as for the consumer side which would include book signings to product demonstrations.

Many illustrious and legendary literary greats have graced MIBF in the past, and this year the tradition continued as book signings provide the opportunity for avid fans and readers to interact with their revered authors and have their books signed and dedicated. Book launches have been scheduled, which included Blood of Shinobi 4 by Pol Medina, Jr., and Zsazsa Zaturnnah sa Kalakhang Maynila.

Besides these, there were other book events. Attendees also got to experience storytelling sessions, art workshops, seminars, and many more. MIBF was not only a marketplace for books; it was fantastic place for learning and meeting fellow book lovers.

MIBF has always been supportive of independent publishers, and this year they had a dedicated showcase for the very first time at Indie Village. It will be a special pavilion with independent publishers in the spotlight, with exciting titles including Nick Joaquin’s Rizal in Saga, Charlson Ong’s White Lady, Black Christ (Milflores), Trese comics series and Eliza Victoria’s 17 Prayers to the Many-eyed Mother (Avenida), Emmanuel Barrameda’s Balaguer and Maqueda by Nap I. Arcilla III (Balangay).

With these attractions and many more activities in store for attendees, the return of MIBF at a live venue was definitely an extravaganza of books and learning that will be remembered for quite a while.

Our gratitude to Primetrade Asia Inc. for allowing us this opportunity to be a media partner for MIBF. Many thanks to our Correspondents Irene, Nicki and Sabthulu for helping us cover the event. And thank you for dropping by. Do visit us again for more features here at arkadymac.com.
