In celebration of the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan friendship, a spectacular performance from Yamato The Drummers of Japan dazzled its captive audience at The Theatre at Solaire last June 10, presented by The Japan Foundation, Manila in partnership with the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines and JT International. It would be the first in a series of three shows of their phenomenal 2023 Philippine Tour, which would include a performance in Davao.

Providing coverage of the event, arkadymac.com’s correspondent Anmu got to see the superb Japanese drummers perform live as they captivated the audience with a unique and mesmerizing experience that transcends language barriers. Indeed, YAMATO THE DRUMMERS OF JAPAN Live! showcased their rhythmic mastery of taiko drums, wind instruments, stringed instruments and captivating stage presence to everyone. It really felt like not only did the drummers of Japan move the audience with their captivating performance but also instilled a sense of unity and inspiration, a reminder of the transcendent power of music to connect people across borders.

It was truly awe-inspiring to see the drummers energetically display their skills, discipline, and passion in promoting the appreciation of Japanese art forms. The traditional Japanese percussion style that dates way back centuries and to this day still being powerfully performed with a perfect blend of ancient tradition with contemporary elements and choreography makes a graceful and enthralling experience for all. To be able to watch the YAMATO DRUMMERS OF JAPAN Live! firsthand was truly an unforgettable performance and spectacular showcase of Japan’s traditional culture and arts in the present day and age.
