Fighting games finally get the spotlight and attention it rightfully deserves as REV Major, the biggest fighting game spectacle in the Philippines, returned with a huge blast last September 30 to October 1 at the SMX Convention Center Manila Function Room 5. REV Major has always been the bastion of the fighting game community, and this year it continued with the exciting tradition of providing the best experience for the FG communities, its players, fans, and the most loyal of event patrons.
For many fond and fabled years, REV Major has long been the home of many different fighting game world tours that the community has long enjoyed. This year marked four world tours that had made the event even more exciting. The Tekken World Tour, ArcSys World Tour, SNK World Championships and DragonBall FighterZ World Tours made prominent impact as the best of the best FG players from all the world battled it out for the ultimate titles for an entire weekend at the Philippines’ biggest FG stage. REV Major was also full of other fighting game tournaments featuring Street Fighter VI, Super Smash Bros and Mortal Kombat 1. A lot of international fighting game icons got to play and compete at REV Major with favorites such as LowHigh, DRX Chanel, Talon Book, Cloud9’s Yuyu, Rangchu and Dragons Raef among others, with able and engaging shoutcasters making the action even more exciting.
Also making REV Major a fascinating event for the community is the appearance of its special guest. Rae Lil Black is a renowned female personality and fighting game fan. Aside from the event appearance, she also got to host Meet and Greet sessions and interaction with fans for a truly unique FG event experience. REV Major 2023 event attendees got to interact with her and collect limited edition RAEv Major merch which included Rae Lil Black photocard sets, calendar, shirt and poster.
Along with these attractions, a lot of different FG activities happened simultaneously and throughout the weekend at the various event areas of REV Major 2023. Prominent sponsors like Globe and Samsung had huge exhibits for the attendees to enjoy. REV Major’s own special attractions were also unique and enjoyable, enhancing the event’s fighting game experience. VIP ticket holders had an exclusive lounge where they got to chill, relax and interact with their co-VIPs and event guests, as well as enjoyed exclusive activities, perks and prizes. The REV Major Community Bay also returned this year and showcased different fighting game communities that were invited to join and be part of the event. Merchants and artists were also present to showcase and sell loot such as stickers, shirts, art and more,
REV Major 2023 of course featured exclusive event merch, which included shirts, windbreakers and hoodies where event goers could choose from as mementos from their attendance of the event.
REV Major 2023 lived up to its promise of being the biggest fighting game event of the year, satisfying the near-unquenchable need of fighting game fans to watch, play and compete at the biggest stage in the country through exciting tournaments and an amazing variety of attractions and sidelights that kept attendees enthralled and engaged.
