As a huge festival of cosplay and fandoms, Cosplay Matsuri 2025 was an extraordinary event that delivered spectacular attractions, performances, games and contests, as well as a special guest who made the event even more exciting. International cosplayer Kiyo enchanted fans and attendees alike at Cosplay Matsuri as the talented and charismatic cosplayer took part in the festivities for all three days of the event.

Marking her first appearance in the Philippines. Kiyo was quite the sensation with the local cosplay community. She is a renowned professional American-Chinese cosplayer currently based in Singapore who intricately captures every detail of the characters she portrays. Her dazzling embodiment of beloved characters from major anime, video games, and other pop culture icons has captured the hearts of every audience and melted the hearts of everyone at every convention she steps into. Beyond her cosplays, she is also an active content creator and an avid gamer, giving her fans a glimpse of her passion for gaming and cosplay.

As Cosplay Matsuri 2025’s special guest, Kiyo got to take part in the festivities with Meet & Greet sessions that drew in a lot of Filipino fans for the opportunity to interact with her live. She had a special appearance on the Matsuri stage for a very engaging Q&A segment with host Pau. She also got to judge Cosplay Matsuri’s fan-favorite cosplay contests, the Dokuen Cosplay Competition and Doujin Cosplay Duo.

We were given the opportunity for an interview with Kiyo. We asked her what game or franchise has been the closest to her heart. She replied, “World of Warcraft. I think it would be surprising to most fans to even hear this as an answer. Most people would think that it would be an FPS game but no. I’ve watched my brother play it growing up and I was very interested in the world and its lore so after becoming an adult and having adult money, WoW was the first game I played on my really crappy Macbook. It distracted me from a lot of really bad and not so nice thoughts and emotions when I was going through a tough time and it kind of opened my eyes to many other games that I decided to try out. This eventually led to gaming being a big part of my life.”
We asked her what has been the best part or aspect of being a cosplayer being invited to events in many different countries. She told us that “Every country has a different kind of culture and etiquette when it comes to conventions, even down to how people behave. In the Philippines for example; everyone is so loud, cheerful and welcoming, you talk to people as if you’ve known them for ages even though it’s the first time we’ve met. Whereas in Japan; people are known to be very shy, most people would take pictures of your cosplay rather than with you. It’s so wild to me how vastly it changes from country to country.”
Kiyo has been nothing short of phenomenal at Cosplay Matsuri 2025 as its special guest, and we sincerely hope that she can come back to thrill excite her fans again at a future event.

Many thanks to Kiyo for this opportunity to get to know more about her, and to Cosplay.ph for making this interview happen
